Decadents and Dropouts IC

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss waited until Gryph was gone, then she stripped and washed herself properly, then she added some perfume and got dressed again. If anything would go wrong, she didn't want to run in nude. After that she did redo her make-up, for she wanted to look perfect if she came to town. She used a mirror, wondering how the strange superstition came up, that gorgons were afraid of them. She looked at her snakes, that were jet black, with smaragd green highlights. She found, that her face was more beautiful then that of any other human woman she has ever seen, including Verialyn. Poor Verialyn. Where was she now? Did she escape? Suddenly she had the urge to cry, but she managed not to do so. There was still hope, and time for tears later. She used the time to make the place look a bit more comfortable. She was not sure if Gryph planned to stay for the night, or wanted to go on right to the city. Both would be fine with her, so she sat down and waited.

Gryph

He veered off from the main road when he saw the place where he had left Phyliss, he ambled up to her resting spot and motioned at the young stallion

"I hope he would work, I didn't take the chance to get a saddle or bridle for him, but he promised to behave himself until we could get hold of it"

He smirked

"One of the upsides of being part animal is that you can talk to most of them"

Phyliss Ovida

"He looks fine to me. By the way, I forgot to mention that I can befriend wild animals and undead. Well, not really befriend, but make them tolerate me enough not to attack." she got closer and petted the horse. Some animals, often dogs, god mad if she got close. Horses had been not a problem until now.
"Do you plan to travel right on, or stay for the night?"

Gryph

He looked at the setting sun and took a deep breath, it was then that he notice the smell, he sniffed and grinned

"First off you are smelling very nice and if I'm noticing that only now I think I'm tired. Maybe we can rest a bit and then head out when we are rested enough"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss smiled and set down. She would not go into serious things tonight for several reasons, but some harmless cuddling wouldn't do any harm.
"Well, maybe after supper we rest for a moment, before we go on. I know these kind of cities, you will find an open place at any time. There are often mor creatures of our kind then at any other place then a dungeon, so that they are used to nightcomers."

Gryph

"Then we do that"

He removed his backpack and removed the food he had left, taking his portion he ate as he watched her.

"What can you remember of coming into this world?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss sat beside him and ate, then she leaned against his side.
"No, not at all... sometimes I have strange dreams of a blackhaired girl...living on a countryside close to an ancient tower on the hill...but that is all." She sighted faintly.
"All time that I can renember, is me the way I am now."

Gryph

He sighed and took in her smell, then smiled at her

"Seems like neither one of us can remember how we came to be then"

He continued to eat his meal

Phyliss Ovida

"I have heard that gorgons were created by wizards from... mortal women. They are always either very beautiful or horribly ugly, depending they were made for terror or pleasure. " she finished her meal and leaned her head softly against his shoulder, resting there. "Maybe we were once created by the same mage? We will never know."

Gryph

"That would have been a mage who would travel as I am sure you were not in a mountain, where dragons shunned you for being part human"

He grinned

"The only thing I would have loved to have is the wings, would make walking much easier"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss laughed. "Wings? That would be very impractible in bed, and it would be hard to find matching clothes." She had to stretch her arm to put a hand on his shoulder, while she leaned on his arm, her snakes playfully crawling over him. She wondered if his thick skin was sensitive enough to feel her breast pressed gently against his elbow.
"Have you got any experience moving in cities? I found even the worst kind of cities even safer then the merry countryside with the farmers and peasants."

Gryph

He chuckled

"Me? In a city? Heavens no, the closest I came to a city is a small town made out of mud huts. It seems that I just stand out a bit too much when I talk, or when people look into my eyes"

He playfully ran his fingers over her snakes, entwining his fingers with them, then pulling back, letting them uncurl themselves

Phyliss ovida

The snakes got a little excited as Gryph played with them. They always reacted to Phyliss mood, and she could control them a little, but not as much as a limb. She laughed softly as the huge hand played with them, she enjoyed it if people were not shocked by her "hair".
"Then you will see a city soon. I am used to move around in cities, and the most filthiest and chaotic ones are the most tolerant about monsters. You have to be aware of criminals and tugs, but at least there is no peasant mob to lynch you. I was rather lucky in such cities, the criminals in there are more careful with a gorgon then the gangs in the wilderness. With you by my side, I think we don't have much to fear."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor sat by the fire trying to get warmth from it. He had been here for a day and was afraid to approach the city. The sight of him always brought shouts and drawn weapons.

He was getting ready to seep on the bedroll when he thought he could smell the scent of a horse nearby and possibly two other persons, but they didn`t smell like humans or anything else he was use to. He was warry, afraid they wre here to kill him, but he was`t sure yet.

Phyliss Ovida

As there already was afire, Phyliss did not notice that there was another fire near, and she sat so close in Gryphs shadow, that she could not see it's reflection. The sun was already setting, and she realized that hey should get going soon. She didn't mind the darkness, because she could still see enough, and in a city like the one they approached there were probably some inns that were open for the night. Should she worry about Haerdon? Maybe he would try to sneak on them in the dark. She found it quite nice sitting here with Gryph, but they could cuddle in a cozy room in an inn as well. At least just a little, to get better known. She pressed herself against his arm and glided up, until she was on her feet. She spoke softly and close to his hear, so that her snakes touched his head.
"Maybe we should get going, so we might sit down with a glass of wine tonight."

Trun Blackheart

They were probably gone he concluded. For he couldn`t sense anyone nearby yet. A little distance away he saw an inn and wondered if they had gone their, but here dare not attempt yo go to the inn. The bartender and other patrons would probably try to kill him.

"What I need is a spell or item that creates and illusion so I can blend with humans" he said to himself. So he got down on his bedroll and lay back, staring a the stars as he slowly went to sleep.

The Narrator

Without resting for more than a quick bite of food or mouthful of water, both of which were done at slow walking pace, Blades and Mad Dog had closed the gap between themselves and their prey. It was now that they looked down at a fire flickering in the twilight. Perching themselves on a rocky outcrop. Blades had picked up the smell of smoke on the breeze, and she aimed to approach it from down wind to avoid her scent alerting whoever sat at the fire.

Mad Dog would follow. He wasn't as good at not being seen as Blades was.

Moving off down through the underbrush, not a twig or leaf made noise as she traveled. It wasn't until she got closer to the fire that she realized the scent she could smell was not who she was after.

Glaring through the night, she picked up the outline of something with red eyes, a tail and wings.

Moving closer, she waited for Mad Dog to catch up. And they both broke through the darkness at a slow pace. Approaching the fire. Picking up the last words he said.

"You do not need such spells," Mad Dog said wisely. "If you are not accepted as your are, then they don't deserve your attention."

Blades sat down away from the fire against a wall, keeping her distance and watching the forest outside.

Somewhere out there....

Trunfor Blackheart

The nightmares were back. He was running from a mob of angry people calling him and abomination and hellborn. He was only 10 yrs old and he couldn`t fully understand their hatred.

The nightmare vanished as a scent interrupted his sleep. Someone was right beside him, no two someones.

He snapped his eyes open and got up quickly, noticing two figures in the clearing within the fire`s light he prepared to fight, but stopped himself. They had the drop on him and they hadn`t killed him. So they probably were here to discuss something with him.

The Narrator

So he had been asleep. Under different circumstances he would have been rather unlucky.

"Calm yourself, we mean you no harm. Your fire is just a welcome sight, and we have traveled many miles tonight. We will leave if you wish."

Mad Dog spoke quietly, and Blades continued to watch the forest.

Taking a seat beside the fire, Mad Dog crossed his legs and looked up at the stranger. Holding his hands in his lap.

"You say you would like to appear human? For short periods of time, or for as long as you live?" he asked, showing curiosity.

Blades would have preferred to continue on, but she was bound to Mad Dog...so she would wait.

Trunfor Blackheart

He glanced at the man who had spoken and was surprised that he hadn`t been disgusted by Trunfor appearance. It was a welcome thing and he gave him credit.

"Sure, you can stay, it`s been ages since I`ve talked to someone who hasn`t threatened me or tried o kill me. as for your question, yes I`d like to be human but only temporary. I hate no being able to go into settlements and just relaxing, but ehy do you want to help me, what do you wat in return?"

He was nervous as he was still at their mercy, if there were to be a fight, he wasn`t sure he`d come out alive from it. So he hoped that they were true to their word of meaning no harm.

Phyliss Ovida

The gorgon rubbed her body accidently at his arm, while she got up and looked at the horse. Should she feel cruel if she kept teasing him for a while? Surely not, she decided. I would do him no harm. The horse was calm, although it would be uncomfortable to ride without saddle. But it was not for long, and they, or Gryph, could get a saddle in the town. She didn't mount it yet, she thought it would be nicer to allow Gryph to lift her on it. As she looked back to him, she saw another light in the darkness - somebody was having a fire not far from them.
"Look!" she pointed to it.

Gryph

He smiled at her teasing, he was sure that given the right circumstances he would have reacted to it, but out here in the wild, on the run from a feeling, he didn't really think it wise to react. He looked into the direction that she pointed and saw the second fire, it was downwind from them and not a good thing at all.

"Let's get moving to the city, I don't trust another light so close to us. Normally you would try to band together out here in the wild"

He turned and gingerly lifted Phyliss onto the horse's back, then collecting their gear he started off, the horse obediently falling into pace with him.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss looked back over her shoulder. Could this be Haerdon? If he got so close, would he really be so careless to give away his position? There was no way to find out, except going there. But she did not protest when they moved on, and they arrived in the city at night. It was a city of the kind she has seen before - not very beautiful or tidy, but with more life on the streets then you would see in a "good" city. But there were no peasants with torchs, gathering up to stone them. Sureley, some of the people that were still outside were probably scum, some of them probably truly dangerous to newcoming travelers. But nobody approached them, and some turned and hid, as they saw Gryphs statue walking through the hardly lit street. They did not have to walk very long, because the forges were at the skirts of the city. By the smell and the lights they could tell that the fires never stopped, people working by night there, a lot of them probably not human. It was an good place to find a tavern open over the night, even if it would not be the best one. Phyliss passed some houses that looked to shabby. Finally she stopped at the tavern that looked better then the others, if still not very good. She assumed that this was a place were they had a chance to get a room for their own for some extra money, and a place were it was less likely they would get their throats cut in the night. She ponted to it.
"I guess that is one of the best we might find here."

Gryph

He nodded at her selection, he was not a man who knew about these sort of things, he knew the wilderness, here he was out of his depth, like a kitten in a pool of water. He helped Phyliss from the horse and the horse made it's own way to the back of the tavern, so far it wasn't very impressed with the quest, but Gryph promised him that soon enough he will get his fill of adventure. He looked down at Phyliss

"You seem to know more about this than me, you can lead and I will follow"

Trunfor Blackheart

He could sense them leaving, the two who were not humans. He began to get curious, how had these two people before him just happen be here where the other nonhumans were? The people before him seemed as if they were stalking them. Wait! were they after the two nonhumans. He had to hear from their side of the story.

He got up and began packing up his things telling the two people before him "I need some time to think about this, how about we meet here tomorrow night and I`ll give you my answer.?"

He hoped that they would let him go.
