Raistlin muttered a soft enchantment, the Staff of Magius lighting the dark area of his laboratory. He was once again atop the Tower of High Sorcerery in Palanthas. He walked down the line of books, searching for the right one as he leaned on the staff, reading each side of the leather covering before replacing the book and moving on down the line.

"Such disorder. How is one supposed to find ANYTHING in here?"

Raistlin's voice was soft, he was speaking to himself though he wished his brother was with him to help calm his nerves. He had been growing restless lately, something troubling his dreams. He had yet to discover what it was but he thought it better he be prepared for anything.

"Ah.. Here it is.."

Raistlin pulled a dust covered, leather bound book from the shelf, letting a breath of air flow across it, the dust rising in a thick cloud as he gave in to a coughing fit. He finished coughing and placed the book open on the table in the middle of the room. Flipping through the pages looking for the spell he was hoping he'd find here.

Tanis walked along the street in Palanthas. He was extremly tired after his long journey here from Solance but that would be taken care of soon enough. He already had a room waiting for him at one of the local inn's here in town that the town council was paying for. And he would be heading there soon but first he had to find Flint and Tass. No doubt Tass had already stolen quite a few things knowing the kender but of course he would never admit to that. He would say he had found them and of course Flint would be searching his pouches makeing sure Tass hadnt "found" any of his belonging's. Tanis sighed, those two would be the end of him but he would give them up for anything in all of Krynn. Looking up and down the road he thought he saw Tass'es topknot bouncing around a corner. Figureing that it might be Tass, Tanis started heading in that direction...

"Stupid kender put that back"
Two short figures were pushing thought the crowded market place. An odd a pairing as ever seen on the face of Krynn.
" It's not yours, I saw you take from that table, give it here."
Taking one of tass's pouches Flint began to riffle through it's contents.
" Hey that my dagger" roared flint seeing it upon Tasslehoffs belt.
Making a grab for the kender flint overbalanced and fell hard on his side, as tass danced aside.
" You doorknob of kender come back here".

Guerrand al'Thon

Guerrand opened the message scroll, seeing the sprite politely out the door and on its way. Highly unusual for me to get a message by courier. I wonder who it was from. Guerrand , or Rand as his friends called him, opened up the scroll. It was from his former master, Justarius regarding a mage of great potential. A mage by the name of Raistlin Majere was supposed to have been able to enter the cursed tower of High sorcery in Palanthas.

Unprecedented, I thought that would never happen. My god, he must be very powerful indeed. Rand read further into the note, his mentor wanted him to get acquanted with this mage and see what Rand's thoughts were on him. His note further described the known companions of this Raistlin , maybe they would be a way to get to meet this mage. Rand frowned at the missive. He was not a spy for the Order of the Red Robes, he was a powerful mage in his own right, but it seemed that Justarius wanted the former master of Bastion to take on this difficult assignment. Rand sighed, then got his bags ready to travel.

He called his familiar Zag, to him. The seagull circled around his head asking Rand questions about the summons. Zag then jumped into the segment of the magic mirror. Rand knew of the villa of his master, and the location of the mirror in his home. He stepped into the mirror fragment, opening the door to the mirror at his masters. Rand entered the villa , looking for the servants to tell him where Justarius might be here in Palanthas.

Tanis smiled as he rounded the corner. Yep sure enough it had been Tass's topknot that he had seen and there was Flint, on the ground shouting at Tass as he danced around. Walking up behind Flint, makeing sure all his pouches was far from the kenders reach he tapped him on the shoulder. "Flint would you like a hand getting up? After that we can go get you some of that Dwarven Mead that you like so much." Glancing over at Tass he continued, "And maybe even get some rest and some spiced potatos for you." Reaching down to help Flint up he chuckled. Flint always acted like he hated Tass but Tanis knew otherwise. Of course he would never tell that to Flint....

Flint

" Unhand me you OAF ! , I can get myself up, as for mead we got more important things to do and you know it. If we don't catch that rattle brained Kender, we all end up in the lock up. No telling what the watch will find in those pouches when he is caught, it was your idea to bring him not me. Last thing I want hanging around is a blasted loose fingered kender."

Setting himself right Flint took stock of himself
" Hey where is my pouch?"

Looking at Flint rather strangly, Tanis smile's. "Yes I know. But um Flint, old friend, Tass is right over ....." Tanis's smile leaves instantly changing into a frown. "Well he WAS right over there. We better split up and find him before something really bad happens. We'll meet back up at the Great Librery." Turning Tanis rushes off down the street in search off Tass. It wouldnt do anyone any good if he got them all in trouble....

OOC: sorry for the spelling errors.

Raistlin smirked, having moved to the seeing pool and watched the three as they wondered around. He liked the idea of Tanis and Flint being in town, but he would never have thought of that ill-fated Kender.

"Well, I suppose I should go great my fan club." Raistlin smirked, strolling from the labrotory with the leather bond book under his arm.

Raistlin continued down the stairs, circling around and around the inside of the Tower of High Sorcerery, coming to the landing where the apprentices studied. He stopped for a second, smirking and reminding himself not everyone is as great as he is. With quick steps he made it fully down the stairs and out the front yard, staring down the Shoakin Forest once more. He smirked, walking right to it with bold steps. He held his staff out, his lips parting as words wisped from between them.

"Shirak" Was the soft spoken word, and with that, the crystal onto of Raistlin's staff shone brightly as he stepped forth into the forest.

Tanis looked up and down the street. Off in the distance he could just barely make out the top of the Great Librery as well as the Tower of High Sorcery. Tanis felt a shiver go up his spin just thinking of the tower. He had only been there once and he NEVER wanted to go back. Tanis shook his head clearing it of old memories before they resurfaced. Looking back down the street Tanis continued. He hoped that he would find Tass before the town guard did.....

Guerrand/Rand

Following the servants information, Rand finds Justarius in the mosiac room studying the tiles. Rand booms out in a loud voice, "I thought that only apprentices were required to study the tiles." Justarius , hearing a familiar voice, looks up from his study and smiles. Rand walks closer and offers his mentor a hand up off the floor. Justarius hobbles over to the stone bench and takes up a cup of cold water, taking a large drough. "I am trying to complete a new spell and this room has always helped me to concentrate."

Justarius looks at Rand with a serious stare. "Thank you for answering the summons of the council so hastely. I have need of your skills and abilities. This young mage is a powerful unknown quantity. He was of the red robes, but as of late, seems to have changed to the black robes. Few have been able to make the change and live. The gods do not take kindly to those that give them up so capriciously in their hearts. We need you to keep an eye on him, become a member of his group of friends, though I doubt a man of his reputation has friends , maybe just companions instead. "

Rand "Well, Master, I will do my best. However, I will not do anything to harm the young man. It will be interesting to work closely with another wizard again. I am sure that I will have no problem joining them. His group of companions, especially what I have read in your missive of this Tanis fellow, seem like quite a mismatched group. I should be able to gain their confidence in no time. This also seems like a powerful group to keep together to fight against evil, or at least keep it in balance. "

Justarius, "Agreed, the balance is what is the most important. I never have believed in the whites or the blacks philosophy that good or evil must ultimately prevail. There will always be elements of both or the universe will cease to exist. Now, do you need any supplies for your journey, or are you all set. My information pinpoints some of the companions here in Palanthas and that Raistlin himself is at the Tower of High Sorcery located here. Get your self ready for the journey. Stay and have a hot meal with me before you go so we can catch up on old times. " Rand followed Justarius out of the room, looking forward to this mission now that it had been fully revealed.

Raistlin, taking slow and sure steps through the undergrowth of the Shoakin Forest, cursed himself for wanting to prove his strength by walking in and out of this stupid forest. He continued trudging on, pushing away twigs and lips as the light from the Staff of Magius shone in front of him.

"Stupid trees, thinking they're so scaring.... "

Raistlin's foor finally stepped onto the paved road just outside the forest, his eyes running up and down the street as he looked for a place to stay. He thought he saw Tanis the Half-Elven down the street, though he couldn't tell for sure. He shrugged it off, turning and heading in the other direction, looking for a place to spend the night before starting his journey tomorrow morning.

---------------------------------------------------

Raistlin had walked for about an hour or so, looking for an Inn that would suit his needs. He had finally found one, Inn of the Bear claw. He got a room, placed his stuff on the dressor in the room and returned to the bar area, ordering an ale and sitting, drinking and thinking.

Rand

After having an excellent meal , Rand changed into a simpler robe than his usual want. He said goodbye to his master and left the compound. He pulled out the section of mirror from his pouch and called forth is familiar. Zag flew out of the mirror and perched on Rands shoulder. Rand gave him the description of the people that he was looking for and sent him off. Rand started to walk towards the town square.

Caramon

Thanking the farmer for the ride, Caramon got off the produce cart at the edge of Palanthas. His armor creaking , Caramon reached down to adjust his sandals. His brother had left them all to die, back on the boat. But Caramon could feel his brother, the extra senses of a twin coming into effect. He knew that his brother was at the Tower of High Sorcery, since he told them that was where he was going. It had taken Caramon all this time to get there. He wants to confront his brother , he truly loved him and was always there to protect him. But he had to know if Raistlin had left him on purpose to die with the others, or if he just had not been able to take him. Caramon walked in to the city, passing the town guards with a nod. He asked for directions and then followed them to the town square.

As Tanis walked up and down the street's he wondered how Flints luck was going. He had been following Tass for a good hour now and still no sight of him. Tanis hoped that they wouldn't find him in the town jail. That would be just one more thing Tanis didnt need at the moment. As Tanis searched the crowd for Tass he noticed a glint off of a dwarven helm. Thinking that perhaps Flint had put on his helmet so Tanis would be able to see him better in the busy city streets. Smiling to him self Tanis begain heading towards him when he noticed a kingfisher fly by. Hmm how odd ,he thought to himself. Normally kingfishers dont come this far inland. Not thinking anything more of it he started heading once more in the direction he thought Flint was in.

Striding down the winding streets, Flint could not find any trace of Tasslehof. Fuming He replaced his helm, after wiping sweat from his brow. He hated the big cities all these people crowed into one place, If he ever got back to Solace he vowed he'd never leave

As Tanis drew nearer he realized that it was in deed flint. "Flint! Flint, over here!" Tanis shouted over the people. Finally Tanis drew within ear shot of Flint. "Flint lets go back to the inn. We will never find Tass in this crowd. Maybe we will get lucky and he wount end up in jail. And besides I'm starved. I havent eaten anything since we left Solance, in the Inn. Good old Otik's spiced potatos. Lets see if the inn we are staying at now has some." Tanis hoped he had been able to get Flints mind off of the crowd and off of Tass. Standing beside his oldest friend Tanis waited to hear what Flint thought of that idea and hopefully he would forget all about Tass...

Raistlin was just about to call it a night, moving from the bar towards the stairs, when a small figure bumped into him. It was a kender, surprise surprise. Raistlin held the kender back for a moment, then noticed it was Tass.

"Tass.. Where are the others and why would they let you loose in a city like this?"

Raistlin was a little worried, Tanis would never allow this little Kender to go running off by himself. Frowning, he hustled the Kender up towards his room so perhaps he could lock him in and search for the others. He emptied Tass's pockets of all his belongs and what was sure to be Flint's dagger before locking Tass up tight in the room, placing an unbreakable lock spell on the doors and windows before leaving and returning to the street outside the Inn.

Rand

Rand watched as Zag flew back towards him. The seagull landed on his shoulder and regaled him with a tale of how beautiful the seagulls were near here."That is nice Zag, but what did you find as far as the people I had you looking for?" "Oh that, I found that the small thief and the wizard were staying at the inn called The Inn of the Bear Claw. The others were meeting at a different Inn, I will show you the way. Follow me, I suggest we meet with the companions first, since it looks like the Mage was in a bad mood with the way he treated the Kender. " "Ok Zag, lead the way."

Rand watched as the seagull spiraled up in the air. He followed the seagull when he straightened out. I wonder what Zag meant about how he treated the kender. I am intrigued, since everyone knows you have to keep an eye on them at all times. Rand was looking forward to this adventure, a change from the everyday. If the former high guardian of Bastion could not do this, then who could.

Caramon

Scanning over the crowd from his great height, Caremon looked for any sign of Raistlin. He saw a man in red robes, but after looking at him closer, he saw the robust man could not have been his brother. Strange though, he had a seagull on his shoulder and seemed to be staring directly at the creature. Weird, but then again its a strange world we live in. Getting closer to the town square, he saw a familiar figure. That shaggy red beard and the almond eyes could only mean one person. Then he saw his companion, a wide half pint with a bad attitude. By Reorx beard, it was his friends.

"FLINT TANIS, how good to see you . " He grabbed the dwarf in his well muscled arms and crushed him to his chest. He pulled him off his feet. Tanis tried to hide a smile behind his hand , watching the discomfort of the dwarf.

Trying his best not to let Flint notice him smileing at the old dwarfs discomfort he looked at Caremon. " Caremon it's good to see you again old freind. But what are you doing here? " Tanis placed his hand on Caremon's shoulder. " Does it have to do with your brother Raistlin? Ahh listen to me I'm rambling on again. Let us retire to the inn where me and Flint have boarding for the night and you can tell us there."...

Flint

" Unhand me you oaf, no respected for my age, none of you. Manhandling a dwarf of my year.
Wait till your 147 years old see how you like it."

Flint kept up his squirming till released for the big man. Dropping to his heels he took stock to find no bone broken.

" Well now you here, you can help us find that stupid Kender, he's run off again getting himself in all sorts of trouble"

Flint began to refuse his two friends instance that they eat first, and that tass knew how to take care of himself. Despite his protest he found himself following the two back towards the inn.

Caramon

Caramon puts Flint down carefully, well , as carefully as he can. He smiles down at the little dwarf as he checks for broken bones. "Bah, Flint, I did not hug you that tight" Caramon looks over at Tanis. "Eh, I am here looking for Raistlin, but your idea of a meal at an Inn goes well with my growling stomach. Come, show me where we are going." Caramon pats Tanis on the back, hard enough to make the half-elf stumble. This is just like old times, except the mood is somber.

Guerrand/Rand

Rand followed the seagull until he came to an intersection of the road. He heard the great roar of a beast he thought and then some activity to his left. He looked over and saw a huge man picking up a dwarf and crushing him to his chest. Rand instinctively started to go towards them to stop a fight, when he realized that the men were friends. Rand smiled as he saw the dwarfs reaction, then got a closer look at their companion. There was no mistaking that red beard and slanted eyes. It was Tanis, which would make these two others Caramon and Flint.

The lady of fate must be smiling on me well today , to have found them so fast in a city this large. Rand whistles to Zag to get his attention. Then he mind speaks his familiar Zag, I want you to follow them to the Inn. I will come that way too, but I dont want to be to obvious that I am following them. Rand sees Zag nod his head in Rands direction and then slowly circle and head off to the east. Rand stands near a shop, pretending to look at the wares on display as the three companions move away together.

Tanis stumbled a little before catching himself. "Aye it would be nice to have some food in our stomach's." he says as the begain makeing thier way to the Boar's Head Inn. Pushing through the crowd the continued walking in silence. Tanis begain getting a odd feeling that the was being followed. Glancing back behiond them every now and then he did not notice anyone yet the feeling persisted. Finnally reaching the Inn Tanis stepped inside as the others followed him in.

Stopping as soon as he was inside he wispered to Caramon, "Old friend I have the strangest feeling that we are being followed." Looking about the inn and its few patrons he notices a small table in a far off back corner. "Let us set there where we can watch the door. Then you can tell us of your buisness here as well as why we are here." Not waiting for a reply he begain walking towards the table...

Caramon

Listening to Tanis talk about being watched, Caramon turned around and rattled his sword at the people behind them. Watching them scatter in fright, Caramon turned to enter the Inn. He agrees with Tanis and moves towards the table in the corner. Seeing that there were only two chairs, Caramon reached out at the base of a chair that another patron was sitting on next to them. He picked the chair up into the air with one arm and pitched the man off of it. He set the chair down for Flint. When the man regained his feet , he went up to Caramon. Seeing that he barely came up to Caramons chin, the man thought better of the idea and left the inn. Caramon sits down with a heavy sigh.
