I wonder if some more experienced Literoticians could clarify for me the circumstances under which death is permitted in stories here. I have read apparently conflicting advice in various sections on this site, and am a bit confused.

Thank you.

It appears to be fairly simple. You can have death in your stories as long as no one gets any sexual satisfaction from it. But tags such as murder, death, and killing are likely to be queried or cause the story to be rejected. I have deaths in several of my stories including two about funerals. If no sex is associated with death? No problem.

This is Literotica. Nothing can be that simple. I have a story where the MC loses his virginity as he is dying (or was he?): Cliffhanger
What can I say? I got bored with the usual outdoor sex Earth Day plots.

The ban is on snuff. Other than that, death is allowed. I have a novel length story with a number of violent deaths, all okay, posted without issues.

Keep sex faraway from your death, you'll be fine.

Just don't read my Elysium Island Adventures. It was a writing challenge with sibling rivalry taken to an extreme. The fact that the description is "Is that machete loaded?" should be fair warning, but it is shocking how years after posting, I still get people wandering in who are distressed by this silly love song.

I've killed a bunch of people in my stories, but nobody's gotten off because of it.

Let that be your guide.

Yep, death is allow as others have said as long as the killer doesn't get any sexual satisfaction. I have killed thousands of beings and some people too, in fact in one of my stories I killed everyone, including the guy telling the story. And believe it or not I got a comment from someone that they couldn't wait for the next chapter.

...although Erotic Horror sometimes bends this rule for vampire/succubus type stories. I get the impression Laurel is a bit more lenient on fantastical stuff where there's no risk of a deranged reader acting it out.

Yeah, I'm sorta-kinda killing off one of my favorite characters in about a week. I'm already bracing for the feedback, lol.

I killed off half the world population in one story, so death is allowed. What others have said: they don't allow death as a source of erotic satisfaction, although as Bramblethorn points out even that rule is bent somewhat in the Erotic Horror category.

Yeah, it is allowed but it is a good idea to put a note in the forward as not everyone wants to read about death. They will down vote a story were they were blind sided by a downer ending.

Unless the deranged reader suffers from Lycanthropy and thinks he's a werewolf.
Good old Peter Stumpp and Gilles Garnier.

Thank you, electricblue66 and everyone else who has responded. The scenario I have written is set in a dystopian hypersexualised future, where the old get "culled" by the state at a certain age, but may choose to end their lives in the throes of sexual pleasure. So, in this scene a woman drinks a delayed-effect suicide draft in advance, which only takes effect when she next orgasms (which just happens to be in a clusterfuck orgy). So, death during sex, but no sexual pleasure caused by death.

From what people have said, it sounds like I'm OK...?

I had a tale sent back as it was considered snuff. POV character died while being fucked by fairies, she had terminal cancer. Original idea was to leave it a little open ended; was it a fever dream she had while dying au natural, or an actual fairy fuck. In the final edit I made it "real" but she was pulled into the land of the undying.

With that in mind, I don't think suicide at the point of orgasm will pass, I hope it does, because I want to read it, but I'm not holding my breath...

I'm inclined to agree. The OP's scenario has an explicit linkage of sex with death, which might push the line too far.

I would PM Laurel before I wrote this (if it ever occured to me to write such a theme, which I wouldn't).

It's only lit that has the rule, plenty of other audiences out there... I write my heart out, tame the words afterwards, there is no light without darkness yada yada... ♥️

How about downloading her mind into an huge supercomputer at the point of physical"death"?

You can write violent stories where the violence results in death. For example my horror story series 'Crazy Cornelius & the Magic Pills' has more violence and swearing than a Quentin Tarantino movie and some of the violence proves fatal, but none of it is sexual, mostly it is people getting beaten up such as one scene where the father bashes another man with an iron bar after a road rage dispute so therefore this was okay.

I question the use of the term "snuff". A "snuff film" is one in which a real live person is actually killed on camera. Such a thing is impossible in a story, because the characters don't exist.
You may not be able to fantasise about a snuff movie, but perverts can.

Thanks, WF, and all others, for your encouragement and advice. The story has passed, and here it is:

Alison Goes to London Ch. 10

Please do pop by and have a read. (Though the plot will, of course, make more sense in the light of the preceding nine chapters, I do start with a little summary of the story so far. All part of the service... ;))

If you like it, please do visit the Clitorides Awards, where this novel (as yet incomplete on Literotica) has been short-listed for "Best Erotic Story by a New Author". (You may need to login/register, but this is easy to do...)

Thanks again for the advice.
