Anyone else have this belief in their family?

I had a friend lose his dad in the last couple weeks. Today another close friend called to tell me she lost her dad yesterday. Now I'm holding my breath to see who number three will be. *sigh*

Did I mention that I hate funerals? I go, because it is the right thing to do to support the family. But I really, really hate going.

I've only heard that car accidents come in threes. Deaths too, huh?

Well, hang in there. I suppose no one likes funerals...

I didn't think it was death that came in 3s  Just bad things in general.

But that's really sad - so much bad news.

3 is my favorite number. Perhaps I should choose another...

Not that, but in my family, someone usually kicks off every two or three years. All the old ones are gone now, and there seems to be a hiatus right now, thankfully.

Cheyenne -

Yes, this happens to me too. Always in threes..... My two friends' moms and my grandfather, all within a month of each other....

my roommate's godfather, our friend's cousin, and our friend's grandmother...

my grandmother, my cousin, and my aunt....

My mother is a nurse and she says that deaths always come in 3's or 5's. Last summer when my uncle was in ICU, there was a death in another part of the hospital. Within an hour, ten nurses had come to check on my uncle and to let my Mom know there had been a death.

I go to funerals because it's a form of closure for me. Once i've allowed myself to shed the tears, i'm able to accept that someone i love is gone and move forward.

In the year 2000 from February to May we lost both my grandfathers and my great aunt. Prior to that, in one year we lost my great uncle, my uncle, and my great grandmother. I've lived it.

My great aunt passed away two days after Christmas and then her husband of 60+ years followed exactly two weeks later.

They say he died of a broken heart .. ultimately romantic.

That sort of happened to me too...

My uncle passed away, my grandmother and then shortly after my own Dad.

Wow, really sorry to hear that.

Death doesn't bother me much, or hasn't yet. I accept it as a natural part of life. Over the years of my life, I've grown so accustomed to being away from family and loving them via my memories (and letters and phone calls) that I don't "grieve" like so many do. But I'm not insensitive to what they are going through. My heart goes out to all who lose a loved one.

same thing happened in my family. Except it was my great grandparents and he died 6 months after she did. They think he died from a broken heart as well. He wouldnt let anyone come over to visit and he would answer his phone. It was very sad.

I sometimes wonder if thats how I will be if my fiancee dies before me. Especially if we'd been married for decades. We've only been together for 6 years and I know that I would be devasted if I lost him now. Its kind of scary to think about.

Cheyenne its not you. Relax. this happens in life...

remeber the good times and not the bad

Yep

I have known this too.

Watch when the Celebs die. Mostly in threes.

My son's dad lost his mother, now his wife/girlfriend (wasn't really married to her, but 15 years should count) he is waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak.

Hope it isn't me that is next.

*gives Daisy back the thunder......I will just use the lightning....you can use the thunder and we can share the rainbows*

Saw it too many times......

Lately at the motorcycle shop, everyone's holding their breath because two people close have had heart attacks, in the same week.
Did I mention we were discussing this outside, drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes?

tragedy in 3's yes, not always death though.

Recall last summer/fall, when 2 cousins died within weeks of each other, and then my brother had his life altering accident.

LOL I should have put this on the Superstitions thread. My great grandmother taught me this as well. EVERYTIME someone dies 2 more follow behind. Its always been that way in my family.

Laundry must never be done on Sundays, or you'll 'wash' someone right out of the house.

After a 10 year drought in family funerals, I had 3 relatives and a friend die last year within 6 weeks. It seemed like have funeral, will travel at my house. Very very depressing.
