Death at Le Mans.

I've seen the video and the incident itself looked very survivable. Mebbe something went wrong with his equipment.

Many years ago, I attended a Le Mans race. Someone I knew was driving.

Because injuries have been (thankfully) rare in recent times, it's easy to forget how dangerous this race is. Speeds of 320kph/200 mph down the Mulsanne straight are followed by the 90° Virage Mulsanne. The simultaneous participation by several different classes means that slower traffic is present on the circuit.

If you've never seen Steve McQueen's '60s vintage film homage to the race, Le Mans, I recommend it. The plot is awful but the footage is incomparable.
