Dead Pool 2013

shoot, I meant to work on my list.....oh well, and they're off!

  • Britney Spears
  • Carrot Top
  • Chris Brown
  • Chuck Norris
  • George Michael
  • Kim Jong-un
  • Macauley Culkin
  • Mary Kate Olsen
  • Raquel Welch
  • Richard Gere
  • Tiger Woods

Yeah no.

Here is what happened:

CaptainKirk advised that I could not have Shula as my bonus pick because he was over 60.

He did not know (nor did I ) that Chavez was under 60.

Consequently, Chavez should be allowed as my bonus pick with Shula being placed in the list of 10.

This assumes we are allowed 11 picks inclusive of bonus.

Here is what happened: I was the first to choose Chavez, because I watch the news, and I know how old he is. I didn't leave it up to someone else to figure it out for me.

Thanks for playing.

Master List of Future Corpses

  1. <snip>
Okay, I've coded up a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, entered everyone's picks (above), created an alive/dead vlookup table, standardized the spelling of names (a problem in previous years), and created a macro so all I have to do is put a death date next to a stiff above and it will automatically update EVERYONE who had that pick.

Yeah, I was bored today. Could you tell?

  1. I don't know if I'm disturbed or impressed by this.

Our first stiff of the year is Pauline "Dear Abby" Phillips.

Colonel Hogan takes the first lead of the year with 5 points.
He is the only one with points.

Dear Abbey,

Is it in poor taste to gloat or celebrate one's good fortune in sprinting ahead in a "Death Pool" prediction competition hosted on an online porn forum considering that my gain occurs at the inarguable misfortune and ultimate loss of the deceased?

Abbey?

Abbey?

Uh,oh....

Heh, heh, heh... you're sick; you do know this, right? :D

And the Colonel sinks the first bucket of the game... so to speak. Congrats.

Our second stiff of the year is Stan "The Man" Musial.

Wrong Element rockets to the lead with 9 points.
Colonel Hogan is in second place with 8 points (2 stiffs in one week!)
The Answer Man is in third place with 3 points
Everyone else has zero points.

Points is points, mah friend.
Wrong Element went "all in" on Stan the Man, and takes the lead on his steely nerve.

(Don't feel bad though, he also picked Kirk Douglas and Nelson Mandela as high-value targets....no way those two will die this year!)

Last Saturday's trivia contest had a category "Alive or Dead". This thread came in rather handy.

Of course, everyone knows Abe Vigoda is apparently immortal.

Looks like Instant Star and HooeyRoryAlt might get lucky today with Burt Reynolds (hospitalized intensive care with severe case of influenza)!

He's out of the hospital and says he's doing fine now.

<maxwell smart voice>
Missed it by THAT much!
</maxwell smart voice>

Edited to add: you sure about that, Rory? I just watched TMZ and they said he's out of ICU and in a "regular wing" of a hospital?
