Dead Or Canadian

Matt is not dead .... or Canadian i don't think ...

Sadly, not only is he Canadian, but he was friends with Alanis Morrisette during the bubble gum years...doh!

Blew a shot...grrr!

ahhhhh Bobby .....

check again, luv ... ;)

Matt LeBlanc is NOT Canadian ...

http://members.tripod.com/tribbiani/indexi.html

Alanis was in a movie with Matt once i think ... but they certainly did not grow up together ....

Matthew Perry is however Canadian and alive too ...

but then again ... you probably should disqualify Canadians from playing your little game .... lol ... no seriously

and no one answered mine btw:

Margaret Atwood

Margaret Atwood

Canadian

And I stand corrected on Matt LeBlanc; apparently they've been friends since he starred ina video of hers a LONG time ago.

Although some would contest that whole Massachusetts/Canada thing :)

My turn

Walter Matthau

Matthew Perry

I don't think he is Canadian. I know his Mom worked for Trudeau and he spent part of his childhood here but I think he was born in the states.

Doesn't keep Australia from claiming Mel Gibson...

Canadian or not?

Or for that matter Canada claiming anyone who ever flew over this vast expanse of nothing. Still worth noting.

ummmmm i thought the question was if Matthew Perry is Canadian .... not whether he was born in Canada ...

even though born in Massachusetts, his mother was a Canadian citizen (Suzanne Perry) - and he grew up in Ottawa (hometown of Alanis btw) after his parents divorced when Matthew was less than a year old ..

now correct me if i am wrong but a child born anywhere in the world to a Canadian mother, retains Canadian citizenship .... yup we claim Matthew as one of our own ... always have and always will ...

eh Evil one? expanse of nothing? why are you putting down a strong free nation of over 30 million people? ... how proud are you of your own country - you don't even specify where you are from ... (is it Canada btw? - jeeeez i hope not) i mean you don't even list an email address ... how seriously are we supposed to take you?

Jesus Christ ....

on second thought, no that's a giveaway ... make it:

This thread

Sometimes it's 'dead', and other times it isn't. Sometimes it's 'Canadian' and other times it isn't.

Yep, usually.

Although, as we are want to do, America throws a little wrinkle in this logic.

In the US in cases of children with multiple citizenship, (I didn't say dual because there have been cases where a child can be claimed for a variety of reasons. I know of one case where there were four involved; long story, but I can go into it if you want.) the child retains them all until 18. At that point, the US requires you to pick one. Whereas other countries are not necessarily as strict and still may acknowledge the persons right as a citizen, as far as the US is concerned it only recognizes the one.

That's the point; it needs to be one, it doesn't have to be both.

In cases where it is neither, that was a gaff.

I hoped this thread wouldn't spiral into a nonsensical [word]game of cat and mouse, well not straight away at any rate.

Generally, I choose to use my powers for evil :)

But I agree with the sentiments expressed, ergo, I am able to suppress my overriding need to shanghai most any thread and twist it toward my own sinister purposes.

To add to your point Ally, I've enjoyed the threads with an open divergence of opinions. The best threads are those where the participants don't view the disagreement as an attack on their person but on a particular point or view. I've found myself allied with a particular person on one thread, only to be totally at odds on another. Such is the nature of intelligent discourse.

Please don't.

Where do old stars go to 'die'?

Ann Margret

Neither!

Ann Margret was born in Sweden and is still alive. I can personally verify this as I saw her 'sort of' moving and speaking (certainly can't call what she did acting or singing!) last weekend.

Saw her a couple of nights later at a restaurant. She looks pretty good for a woman her age, but, in comparison to her contemporaries of Raquel Welch or Sophia Loren, she has not aged very well.

She was appearing with Gary Sandy (yes, from 'WKRP in Cincinnati') A far cry from her hey day with Elvis in Viva Las Vegas! :)
