the gift that keeps on giving

drives assorted democrats and greens crazy

every move he makes
every breath he takes

they'll be watching you

Autocracy
  1. Government by a single person having unlimited power; despotism.
  2. A country or state that is governed by a single person with unlimited power.
This is not true. It is a very serious claim, but validity stems not from rote repetition.

By this metric, with Democrats in control of Congress, you could just as well say that President Biden is Joe, the Autocrat. If he could fix anything, anything at all, he could aspire to be Joe, the Plumber.

DeSantis makes a speech, the statehouse delivers the legislation to his desk. Guess who is drawing the redistricting map?

I'm sure the President has done the same thing. ¯\(°_o)/¯

I recently read an article about how Democrats used redistricting to benefit them in the states where they control the legislature, but all of the ire and anger over the issue is always aimed at Republican-led states. Is that because they're doing something "unfair," or just that the Democratic Party tends to draw upon the angry segments of society for its power?

I was talking about DeSantis drawing the lines.

Both parties have gerrymandered when redistricting.

Again, why the consternation?
Were rules broken? Lawmakers thwarted? Voters "intimidated?"

It supports the autocracy comment. One man creating the districts for future elections.

That is not autocracy when it is Constitutionally directed.

Who was it who famously intoned, "Elections have consequences?" (I.e., deal with it loser(s)!)

You misunderstand the word and are ignoring what is happening in the state.

Certainly citizens of the state can vote for legislators or a governor who defy the man. At this time, they are all doing everything he says to do. And they aren't even questioning.

No laws were broken. Florida’s duly elected Governor and members of the state legislature are legislating. Many on the left simply don‘t like Florida’s laws and policies. Floridians will be voting in six months. It looks likely that they will be giving the popular Governor another four year term.

"Elections have consequences." The question here is why are you the squeaky wheel? Do you live in Florida and were unable to stop him? I live in one State and I manage to concern myself with its politics pretty much exclusively. If the voters were ignorant of the redistricting process and the powers of the legislature, then that's on them. If they were aware and they still did not elect Democrats, that's not on this DeSantis guy and furthermore, I'm willing to bet the opposition is questioning, imposing and being Democrats, striving for extreme and futile rudeness to make their point.

I'm wondering if you think this guy has the eloquence of Hitler and mesmerized the legislature into giving his Nazi Party ultimate power (tic).

I typically am against a blank check for leaders or on demand shit legislation, no matter what stat it's in.

Is it a full on autocracy? No....but it represents the new party that has replaced conservatism in the country which supports this type of shit....and I don't like that.

I'm ok with being rude....manners are overrated.
