Closed for avrgblkgrl and myself.
He crouched behind a tree looking at the camp in the clearing. A series of tents surrounded one large pavilion like tent in the middle. Ril’Aloun’s blue eyes, the eyes that have been a bane his entire life, watched the guard movements carefully. Without saying a word, Ril’Aloun signaled his companions, giving them orders in a complex sign language.
Waiting the requisite time, Ril’Aloun began an enchantment, and upon completing it, a small bead of fire shot from his finger tip toward the farthest two tents. The resulting explosion, a ball of fire some forty feet wide signaled the band of Drow bandits to attack. Silently, like the shadows they looked so much like, the warriors swept into the camp, their black steel blades glimmering in the firelight with the blood of the elves they were slaughtering.
White hair with silver highlights were swept back from his forehead as Ril’Aloun stood and ran toward the tent in the middle. Four sun elves were guarding the tent, one on each side, but too close to the tent to see what was happening on the other sides of it. As he approached the back of the tent, a sickly green ray erupted from Ril’Aloun and the sun elf was struck in the middle of his chest. A fine powder of grey white ash began floating to the ground where the sun elf had stood a second before.
Pulling his own black bladed sword from its scabbard, Ril’Aloun parted the tent and stepped inside. He saw his quarry in changing from her night attire to armor still an elven mage attempting to help her hurry into it. Both turned to Ril’Aloun in shock.
As he looked up into the liquid orbs that belonged to the one he sought, he registered in the recesses of his mind that the Mother was correct, the appearance was beguiling, he had never seen an elf with one silver and one golden eye until today. She had to be one of great importance.
A series of bolts, five in total, crashed into Ril’Aloun. The magical force ripped into him, causing pain to flash through his eyes. Short violent phrase later, Ril’Aloun pointed his finger and lightning erupted from his fingertip and ripped through the mage and out the tent catching the guard outside and one of his own troops.
Ril’Aloun strode forward and grabbed the much taller female sun elf, her golden hair glimmering iridescently, and hissed in elven, “Fight and you die, we will always bring you back if needed, co-operate and you live.”
He saw the fear in her eyes, but no sign of fighting, and began an incantation to teleport the two of them to the meeting area. As he finished the incantation, in the instant before the teleportation took effect, the mage that had been lightening bolted, with his dying breath, sundered a staff, releasing its magic into the magic Ril’Aloun had conjured for his own use. The intermingling of magic, altered his spell greatly.
An instant later, he and the elf he was to capture were lying on a sheet of ice. Standing up he could see a large city to the northwest, a city much larger than any he had seen before. Helping her up, he glanced at her, and said, “It seems Fate would not have us as enemies. Who are you and why would your kind rather see you dead than captured?”
