Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican
Saw this in a blog and loved it. I don't know if it has been around a long time or not but I thought it was good, sorry if its old.

Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican

By John Gray
Cincinnati, Ohio

Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.

All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it, too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; his bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree-hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to Dad's; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republicans would still be sitting in the dark.)

He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home. He turns on a radio talk show, the host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesn't tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.) Joe agrees: "We don't need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, I'm a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Ignorance of this magnitude can only be laughed at.

because there aren't any Republican voters in the middle class population - at least not any more!

Is Joe a union member? Otherwise, the "excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation" thing is a bit of a stretch. And if he is, he's an odd sort of Republican.

I was a union member as a young man, and a Republican. I believe a man should work. You're confusing Joe Republican with Joe Rabid Dog Neo Con, the kind that believes all work that's not nailed down at Mel's Diner should go overseas and all that bullshit.

Lots of us cheered Lech Walesa as he helped bring down the USSR...

I was never a union member, but my father was. He put in a lot of time with no compensation because he believed the union was necessary for the industry to survive, and for the workers' protection.

So I learned, at an early age, that a counter to Management Without Limits is a good thing. The problem now is that without international standards, big business can play one nation against the other to get what it wants. The US can have protections for workers, and clean air standards, and the rest of it. Fine. Companies can manufacture stuff in China, then, where none of that applies.

I'll have to beg to differ on that one. I think we'll see from the forthcoming election results that the country is still divided politically between Democratic and Republican as well as the other, smaller parties and that the middle class is the most divided class as well as the most populous one.

Dependancy thinking.

You're black, you're with us, we'll take care of you; just don't ask for a leadership position or support against a white guy/gal...

Joe also has a warning on his electric razor that sharp things can cut.

Joe hasn't seen a plastic bag in 20 years that doesn't warn about suffocation.

Joe is scared shitless to mention Gawd in public.

Joe is scared shitless of Muslims.

Joe used to be:

A Democrat.

Which is why Democrats are boning up on Spanish and screaming bloody murder about sealing the borders against terrorists and drugs.

They want us to get hit again.

What was Joe's sleazy trick for cutting out the Democrats from the middle class?

Ideas???

All the liberals signed 'vows of poverty' in return for future tax subsidies.

I guess the point is that people who think they have made it solely on their own are deceiving themselves.

As far as the middle class republican thing, it is interesting to me that they are essentially voting against their economic, if not their own political interests. Often they are voting against their religious interests also.

For instance, a Minister, Chris Geeslin, who led a Frederick Maryland evangelical church, the "Reedemer International Family Church" and his wife were friends with a person in their congregation, Ed Buckham. Ed became the Chief of Staff of Tom Delay, and was Delay's spiritual advisor. They prayed together for the US to come back to God. To come back to a more Christ Centered society.

Buckham started the "US Family Network" and asked Minister Geeslin and his wife to be on the board. He agreed. US Family Network was a group that they hoped would be able to help in their mission to bring the US back to God, and those things important to the church.

Buckham was a consultant, but actually ran the agency. He controlled the checkbook. Geeslan saw that large donations started to roll in. One was for over one million dollars. When Geeslan questioned the money, and how it was being spent, Buckham told him "this is how Washington works." Delay had an office in the non-profit where he made fundraising calls.

The Washington Post has linked that exact donation to a russian energy company with connections to Jack Abrahoff. The company wanted to influence DeLay's vote on IMF and its bail out of Russia. Delay voted for the bail out, despite other conservatives' concern about the matter.

US Family network was paid about a half million dollars by Marianas Island textile interests. Reports had shown that these interests were running sweatshops in the factories, and were tied to other human rights abuses. So, according to Minister Geeslin, what was being touted as a pro family organization, was eventually taking money and supporting the position of donors who were supporting forced abortion, forced prostitution and terrible work conditions, in addition to gambling interests. Not exactly christian values.

Delay fought Clinton on reforming the Marianas Island human rights abuses. After the donations were made by those commercial interests.

IN 2001, the FEC fined the National Republican Campagn committe 280,000 for trying to funnel money through the US family network, who used the donation to engage in Republican advertising. The US Family Network was closed shortly thereafter.

The minister questions conservatives' support of Delay, because he knows Delay is a fraud, and that it is all about the money. The christian values have nothing to do with it. But that is still why alot of middle and lower income people vote republican. Why they trust these crooks is beyond me.

kinda interesting that Hastert is fighting for the rights of a Democrat who appears to be a criminal. Must be worried his office will be raided next. ABC reports Hastert is under investigation in the Abrhamoff thing.

The justice department denied it.

Hastert and Reid have the same damned ties.

This is no more than William Jefferson shared office space with Ney who had ties to Abramoff and they all took bribes so the Republicans are steeped in a culture of corruption so we have to vote out Republicans and get more upstanding citizens like William Jefferson and Harry Reid in charge of the largess of the Public Treasury to make sure the right Fawkin' Injuns get shown the money.

What a mountain-sea change!

African-Americans? In the bag.

It'a all about cheap Mexican labor and Indian Casinos...

As a soldier, I get real fuckin' tired of chickenhawks walking around sucking their thumbs, clinging to this 9/11 post-traumatic stress shit, okay?

I am a dozen times more likely to get attacked by a Turkish Muslim every time I walk off-post here in Germany, than Joe NASCAR is while sitting back in front of his TV watching Fox. But I don't. Why? Because I am courteous and civilized, while at the same time aware of my surroundings. I am an American soldier living abroad, a GUEST in a foreign country, and I fucking act like it.

Scared shitless of Muslims? Afraid to talk about your exclusionist, radical version of Gawd in public? Afraid of those damn Mexicans? They get killed by IEDs so you can have your piece of shit war. Maybe if people didn't hide their xenophobia and hard-won ignorance behind a bullshit veil of "values" and "national pride," we wouldn't have these problems. Manufactured panic-button issues genteely crafted to hide bigotry. And we buy all of it. Because we're too scared to do anything so radical as THINK.

*Rolls eyes* Terrorism happens. It happens all over the world. But we didn't care about anyone else before it happened to us. And now we've got no real allies to count on anymore.

My beliefs in progress and the inherent goodness of man are to blame for terrorists attacking Uhmurrka? No. Sorry. I don't buy that. My service doesn't excuse your tendency to be a fuckwad, figuratively speaking. It sends a bad message to the rest of the world, and it puts MY life in very real danger. So come back and talk when you're ready to sit at the big boys' table, here in the twenty-first century.

/seethe.

God damned neo-conservative chickenshits. Fight your own fucking wars, how about that?

After 4 more year of President Carter and two terms of puss man Dukakis, Joe is sad to see his son taken away to the CCCP work camp.
