VETS DAY-can't let it just pass

My dad was in the Army-Air Force during WWII. The vid isn't bad and the music is great. It's kind of long.

I still get choked up when I hear this. It was played by the military at my dad's funeral back in '03. The tears are from the sadness of sacrifice and also ones of joy in a sense.

As for me, I was a Cub Scout and on safety partol in elementary school but and I loved our theme music. Yep, of course I quickly took over for Saunders to spend my time serving with Hanley :D

A favor to ask

Normally, I don't let things get to me too often. But this one did. I happened to notice that the year end nominations etc have begun. So out of curiosity I popped into that thread for a look-see, to see who was (and who wasn't) and noticed something that just struck me funny.

Now...I'm not saying that anyone who HAS been nominated isn't necessarily a good writer, or hasn't posted a good story or two even. But give me a break. I did see that brand new "sign ons" to Lit are posting most of the nominations, and I have read a few of those stories, some good...some not so good. But again, Most Influential? I do believe there should be some changes made down the road to keep people for 1) nominating themselves (over and over and over) 2) that certain minium qualifications be made like writing and posting a story themselves, or at the very least being a member for a minium of say 60-90 days? But until they consider doing a few things like that, I think writers who are good, but who aren't being considered/voted for/or nominated are truly being treated unfairly.

So...having said that. What I want to do is simply prove a point, so I'm asking for your help to do that. And I want to do it legitimately (even though I am admittedly self campaigning here) and ask you to go to the below link and nominate me for Most Influential writer.

Now...I'm NOT asking you, or expecting you to actually go and vote for me if I am nominated. All I'm asking is that you help get me nominated as they'll be choosing only a few "top" nominated authors to be voted on. But I just want to show how easy it is to get nominated (whether you think my writing is influential or not to others).

Because Bear and his beautiful wife are on rarely, I thought I'd explain that
Lit made a change some time ago and many threads from Lit's past lost
most of their pics....there are still plenty here but you need to search..........
or click on the paperclip and view them that way.
