I think my database may have become corrupted. My story "On First Looking Into Chapman's Quim" was published a little over 24 hours ago (it's now 0719 GMT). It received 36 comments in the first 12 hours or so, but hasn't received a new comment for the past 13 hours (according to my home page). Yet when I sort my stories in Comment order, it shows between two stories with 57 comments. Plus, when I post a comment myself (I'm responding to comments by others) and click on View your comment, the counter in the All Comments block shows 58 comments. Can anything be done about this? How do I go about asking Manu or Lauren to fix it?

Respectfully submitted,

Different parts of the Lit system go through server refreshes on different cycles. I suggest you give it time - Lit data sets are forever out of synch with each other. Sounds normal to me.

There’s also a spam filter on comments which introduced some more complexity so your comment count might differ from the actual comments that show.

Still seems odd

Same thing happened to my last story (My troublous dreams this night). Curiouser and curiouser...

Comments are delayed until they go through a spam filter like Chloe said. Some times that could take up to a day. The counter is probably incremented immediately until the comment has passed inspection.

Don't worry about it, everything will catch up... eventually.

And you as an author don't have a separate data base... it's all one great big one, with millions of stories.

Somehow fixed

Sounds like y'all are much more experienced than I am with the foibles of Literotica (or I'm some godawful combination of impatient and insecure). Mea culpa.

No need to apologize. I'm still trying to figure things out sometimes and I've been publishing stories here for two and a half years.

Comments can be slow, I've seen it take up to a day to appear. In LW they tend to die off after the first 48 hours and are slow after the first 24 so nothing unusual.

Once the readers see comments that are similar to what they want to say the volume spirals downward very quickly. :)

PS you might need a F5 refresh on your author dashboard.

Patience is a LIT author's greatest virtue. Don't expect anything to happen quickly. Have a drink. Think of something else. Check back in a week.
