Yikes! Do actors have a self-destructive streak or what? You've got the blockbuster of the summer--this is no time to step back into that long-running family dispute.
Bale was arrested when he attended Belgravia police station in London today after his mother and sister had reported him to police. He left the back of the station in a blacked out silver Mercedes people carrier and sped past the awaiting paparazzi and heavy security.

Bale gave a statement to detectives of his version of events in what was described by police sources as an allegation of a “minor” common assault. The 34-year-old was bailed until September and will be allowed to fly back to his home in America.

Jenny Bale, 61, and daughter Sharon, 41, today said an "incident" had taken place but refused to give any details. Sharon originally denied knowing anything about it but they said: "OK, there was an incident but the police are dealing with it. "It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say."

The alleged assault was believed to have taken place on Sunday night at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel, where Bale was staying ahead of the screening of the new Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight in London's West End on Monday night....Mrs Bale and her daughter are said to have gone to a police station in Hampshire to make the allegation, which was subsequently referred to the Metropolitan Police. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault."

Sources said the argument was over a long-running family dispute.
Don't ya miss the good old days when Hollywood studios bribed the police and kept actors out of the headlines--and made them all seem to be squeaky clean and good? Ah, for the days of rose-colored glasses....

And politicians, too.

But then we wouldn't hear people saying about how better life was then, a simpler time, a more noble time, when corruption didn't even exist. ;)

?

Has anyone seen the movie, yet?

I heard that it was very good. I'm not a fan of Bale. Actually, I don't think he's even good looking. Yet, what do I know. I'm a guy.

I thought the first Batman was the best, the one with Jack Nicholson playing the joker.

That was indeed (on the surface) a more 'innocent' time. Actors and actresses were presented as larger than life leading storybook lives. Gays and lesbians didn't exist, alcoholics and drug abusers were sent for 'cures', unmarried actresses who became pregnant had abortionists on call and murders were hushed up.

The publication of 'Confidental' magazine in the 1950's was the first crack in the studio's PR armor. Copycats followed and the golden age of tattletale journalisim was in flower.

Film (and Rock) stars seem to have a self-destructive streak that is a by-product of their creativity. Consequently, the tabloids carry on the tradition of recounting the most trivial of transgressions in exaggerated detail for the panting public .Twas ever, and shall be, thus.;)

Take that and that

I really don't like crucifying the guy without knowing more of the facts. His mother and sister may have lied about the assault just for a lawsuit. Too many times people are quick to jump and point a finger of guilt when there could be an explanation and extenuating circumstances.

I feel bad for some of these celebrities. They don't get a break. They can't go anywhere and they can't do anything without being stalked. Give me money to fame any day.

Moreover, I don't blame some of these celebrities for attacking the Paparazzi. Sure, it this case alledgedly it was his mother but...excuse me for a minute will you.

"Ma! I'm on the God damn computer. I told you not to bother me when I'm typing on Literotica. Now, get out of here you old bag. Take that and that."

Sorry, where was I? Oh, yeah, people are too quick to jump to conclusions without hearing the other side. We all should hold out opinions and give him the benefit of the doubt.

It is a good movie. Bale is (IMHO) the weakest actor in a superb line up of actors who all do a fantastic job, this line up headed by Heath Ledger who blows the role of joker right out of the water. Ledger (again, IMHO) is phenomenal and the writing for his part is brilliant. He is true to the character, yet takes it in an altogether new direction.

Nicholson's joker was fine. Ledger's is amazing. Simply amazing.

Everyone says it's amazing. I will see it soon hopefully!

I agree. Who's to say it's not a case of deadbeat relatives trying to cash in.

The current AP report says he wasn't charged. Sounds like a non-event story to me.

Down under

"Hello Starrkers!" (Think of Newman on Seinfeld in the way that he talks to Jerry)

Yeah, I'm not one to jump to conclusions. Never have. Nope, not me. Even thought the jury is still out on last year's Survivor Contest (lol), I've never made an ass of myself going down that road of speculation. (Think Barney Fife on Andy of Mayberry)

When I won 42 million dollars in the lottery back in 1990 I had people coming out of the woodwork telling me that they were my mother and father. Yeah, sure, they looked like them, they even had the same last name as I did, but I threw them out. Hey, what do I look stupid?

"So...how's down under? What happens when you're depressed? Are you down under or just down or under? I'm glad I live in the US, especially Boston. I like being on top instead of under. Although, sometimes it is good to be under...under the covers...under her bottom...I can't think of any other unders, oh, I know, underwear. Yeah, that's a good one, so long as it's women's underwear.

Christian Bale had an alien love child with his drug-addicted mother who was going to tell the world that he was bulimic and had lost 100 pounds and was a glue addict having an affair with Madonna.

You had me right up until you mentioned Madonna. ;)

too late, cousin

You won 42 million dollars? Did I mention that we're second cousins?

Sorry, but that was 18 years ago and all that money I won is long gone. Now, the only money left is all the money that I made wisely investing it (lol).

After I dumped all my real estate, I, uhm, kind of enjoy playing the stock market.

lol

Hmmm, I think that I like this AV much better than all of your previous ones. Is this a recent photo of you? You have such big eyes.

I saw it last night. Who ever told Christian he could act? He can strut and he can lurk and he can smirk, a style of acting known as "strurking".

Still, it's a good flick, if a half hour too long. The city of Chicago never looked so good.

I disagree about Christian Bale as an actor. He was superb in 'American Psycho,' '3:10 to Yuma,' and also 'Rescue Dawn.' He's subtle, intense, and his performances in the films I've seen him in were well-crafted.
