Dark Seduction (closed)

“Of course my love” Adam said nodding his head as he noticed the bags set to the side. They were simple bags that he could carry a fact that he was grateful for. His nighttime journey to her involved cutting through the woods that separated their homes. It was a simple journey but if there had been any more bags he would have had to send for Mark. Mark was currently moving rearranging the house getting it ready for her arrival. During Adams alcohol induced stupor most of the house moved into various states of clutter and duress. Mark kept a clean house but it was cluttered and stuffed with empty bottles and the stuff he threw and broke in one of his fits of rage. Since he knew she was coming he was having her clean up and prepare the second bedroom for her. Until they got married it would serve as her room and after she could keep it if she wished for a sitting room.

Of course there was another reason to clean up the house they were still on the search for the document. Adam was all but certain his father hid it in his office but was still hesitant to go in. It was the last wish his father made and a part of him still feared him. He knew the man was dead and had been long dead but going in there would bring some kind of retribution to him. Maybe when Madeline came he would have the strength to face his fears.

But not before

“I would love to sleep with you” Adam murmured sliding under the covers with her. He snuggled up against her stifling a yawn before dropping a kiss on the top of her head “good night my angel” He murmured before closing his eyes and letting sleep find and take him. He slept completely relaxed and at ease comforted by her presence more than even she could know. He awoke hours later to Mary’s gentle shaking and groaned rolling out of bed and thanking her. He moved and grabbed her bags quickly stealing away into the night with out a second thought.

“Until tonight my love”

“I would love to sleep with you” Adam said to his soon to be bride as she made space for him on her bed and waited for him to lay down aside her as she turned towards him and placed her head within the crook of his arm where his shoulder was and her hand on his chest as she slowly moved it across it and downwards then back up just taking in his scent.

"Mary wishes to come back to the Strange house once we are there and settled. She Wishes to stay here and look for the document and to keep an eye on my father for a few days." Madeline said as she looked and seen him yawning. She knew he had demons within him, then again all people did in one way or another.

He wished her goodnight calling her his angel as she smiled and felt the kiss to her forehead goodnight. She wished him a goodnight back and she fell asleep snuggled to him till morning was about to show. Mary entered the room and woke him to get him on his way as Madeline kissed him goodbye knowing that it was the last night they would be apart. “Until tonight my love” he said to her as he left with her two bags and she got up and watched as he quietly slipped into the woods.

Madeline stayed up as she packed one last bag of her things and then dressed for the day. She went down stairs carefully as her legs were much better but still were a bit sore. She entered the kitchen as Mary smiled to her and she took a seat watching her cook breakfast. "I'll eat in here this morning Mary. Father doesn't wish my company any more it seems."

"He is not here child, he left late last night and still has not returned." Mary remarked as Madeline knew where he was just not who he was with. "I tried searching again, and found nothing. I don't think it's here in the house."

"I will look today till he returns. I will flip wall pictures, look in places that are small and might hold such an item." Madeline told her as Mary served her breakfast and she sat there happily eating and then went hunting for the document till her father arrived home. By that time dinner had went by and already night had started to settle in. Tonight she decided to sit up and wait for him. She heard footsteps by the door and then it opened as she looked directly into her father's eyes.

They just starred at each other, nothing said as he shut the door and she listened as his foot steps suddenly went silent as he walked to the other side of the house where his bedroom was. The one he shared with her mother had been right next door but when she passed, he moved to the east wing and created a bedroom there for himself and every now and then a guest. Tonight was one of those nights, Mary had come to her room to let her know her father had a female guest and they had been drinking heavily. That meant he would sleep in, in the morning which she hoped for to avoid confrontation as she walked out the door with Adam.

Today was the day

It was the one thought that drove the young scarred Lord giving him a light step and a smile on his face. He was on a high right now his dark mood lifted and held at bay by the thought of his love being in his home. He continued his running sobriety not touching a single drop of alcohol during the day while he and Mark prepared for her arrival. The house which had been dark for so long looked fresh and warm almost as if she was causing the blackness and memories to fade from its walls as well. Mark kept it up and it was only a few hours after rising that Adam finally plopped down on a chair and yawned.

“Still no sign of the document?” Adam asked wearily watching as Mark brought him a light lunch on a white china plate. He gratefully took it nodding his thanks at the father figure and friend before tucking in to eat.

“No Lord Strange” Mark said shaking his head and sitting down himself a act which most Lords would have been against “I think its in your fathers room I am sure of it”

“Then I guess we will need to take an ax to the door” Adam murmured even as he felt the fear start to come up again “not tonight a day when Madeline is away I do not wish to scare her with a ax”

“As you wish Lord Strange” Mark nodded before glancing at the clock “you need to go rest tonight is a busy night for you”

“Of course” Adam said getting up and nodding his head “be well” he said before disappearing up the stairs.

That night

Adam walked into the house quietly nodding at Mary “Mark is coming in the morning with the carriage” Adam whispered to her as they began to climb the staircase.

“Good Madeline is ready” Mary nodded helping him up before pausing at the door “be swift Strange” she said patting his back.

He opened the door and came in closing it behind him and looking over at her “are you ready my love?” He asked coming over to her.

Apparently the plans had changed as Mary came and told her that Madeline was to leave in the dark of night instead of waiting till morning light. This was fine with her. She didn’t wish to have a confrontation while her father had been drinking heavily and another strange woman was present. That would only cause more chaos in their already hectic lives.

Madeline packed her last bag containing pretty much just private items. Majority of her clothing had already been packed up. She took one last look around her room for it was son time for Adam to come and take her away. They would be traveling by foot, her father would hear a carriage and that was something they wished again to avoid.

This was the only house she had ever lived in and as she looked around it hadn’t really changed much since her mother passed away. Her father had all the family portraits that were painted taken down as well as any that had her mother in them. There was a few which Madeline had kept and placed aside in the attic out of her father’s sight. She could not let him burn the only precious mementoes she had left of her.

Madeline sat on her bed as she softly sighed and tried not to let the tears flow. It broke her heart to see how her father got, his mean demeanor and how he tried selling his only child off and she really didn’t understand why. Could be a business deal, or maybe the fact she looked exactly like her mother or even because she was sneaking around like her mother through the woods to the Strange estate. She had wished it wouldn’t have ended this way but there was no choice. He was breaking a pact, an agreement that was created when she was a child, it was a sealed deal. She loved Adam, it was truly love at first sight scars or not she didn’t see them she saw a handsome man who loved her and wanted her happy unlike her father.

Her bedroom door opened, she sat there in a casual long dress and smiled as Adam opened the door and asked if she was ready. Madeline loved when he called her ‘my love’ it sounded so special and made her smile. “Yes Adam, I’m ready. I have just one bag.” She handed him the cloth bag that was once the one her mother used to use when they went away on trips.

Quietly she walked down the steps before Adam, her legs were still sore but nothing she couldn’t handle. When it came to pain apparently she had a high tolerance level. The steps creaked as she stepped carefully but not enough to wake her father. Once down in the great room, she moved quickly to the kitchen and the back doors that lead out to the yard in the back.

They made it safely to the woods, where Mary stood and gave her a hug. “I’ll see you soon my child, go now and be safe tonight.” She said as Madeline smiled and into the darkness she and Adam went. The blanket of night hiding them on this last journey she would need to make to see him for now, she would be living as one. It may have been in sin, but Madeline knew she was safer in the Strange estate with her husband to be than with her father or some strange man that she didn’t know.

They walked softly into the night, till they reached the edge of the woods where the grass started and she could see lighting in the house and smiled. This was to be her new residence with Adam and Mark soon Mary as well. It was time to close the door on her past life and open a new one with Adam. She knew her father would come searching for her eventually and prayed he would take his time. Madeline was promised to another, a man she didn’t know anything about, so depending on the deal would depend on when her father would try to come for her. But for now, this was her first night in her new home she thought as she walked through the dew covered grass as Adam shadowed her aside her. Madeline reached for his free hand and held it, a nervous feeling washed over her as they got closer.
