Looks like they have turned to our lifestyle for their new fashion statement...sort of like the previous growth of collars as fashion accessories, only more so! Oh well, I guess it might make it easier to dress up for fetish parties and not get looked at so disapprovingly on your way there, though perhaps you might get mugged for the jewels and cash they might assume you have in your pocket/handbag!!

I've noticed for some time now a trend toward all things BDSM in media as the "hot" thing. I said a year or so ago it's the new black. I stand by that. It can make for some fine fashion.

My first thought was 'great, so what is usually overpriced for us in the lifestyle is about to take a bigger hike up the capitalist ladder all because the trendies want to feel naughty without actually being it'!! Can't we make them pass some sort of initiation or something like a good bullwhipping or caning before being allowed to wear SM inspired garments?!!

I thought the same thing. I mean a waiste sinch is really cool, but all those buckles. I didnt' care much for any of the pics there. I'll stick to the glitter goth stuff.

I don't have a trademark on my ass if I wear leather. I don't really care if it gets trendy and I don't feel like I "own" it. I personally would love to see things get a little angular and metallic after having pink shoved down everyone's throat for the last 5 years.

If I had to pass initiatons to wear Doc Martens in 8th grade, or dress like a beastie boy like I did throughout the early 90's, or buy a black suit (no no you're not a REAL yuppie) I'd probably still be in diapers.

Seems to me that some of us are sooooo married to the idea of being a badass that we don't want anyone we decide is vanilla liking our shit. I guess I don't have enough melanin to listen to Kanye with this ideology. I've been at a lot of club environments with rude, obnoxious, clueless, cheap ass lifestylers complaining about well behaved PAYING club kids who come in to watch and keep our little pervert venues solvent. This is how we like to treat them - even though a lot of these people are curious, are playing at home, would like to play, are having their imaginations captured the first time they see a Domme paddling a showgirl on a stage. That's a great way to do ambassadorship.

I'll be much happier when I can buy a cheap but good looking pair of jeans that fits well and is normally waisted. Low rising jeans shouldn't be worn by most IMO.

Oh no, I adore pink! It's just that I'll probably want a change of pace after wearing frilly stuff in the spring. Come to think of it, I don't own any pink clothing. It's not really a great color for me, what with the pale skin and red hair. But I have lots of pink undies!

I've relented on spending the bucks on jeans, because the fit is totally worth it. However, Gap jeans are decent and relatively cheap, especially if you wait for a sale. I have a Paper, Denim & Cloth pair that are like a gift from God to a girl with curves, and I got them on sale at Anthropologie. I wear them at least twice a week. Le sigh. I love clothes.

I agree completely! I've been watching the leather trend blow up on the fashion runways for years now. After two full years hitting the runway it's just ~Now~ becoming mainstream? It's a trend, next year it will be back to off the shoulder, princess cuffs, and flowing tricot.
Personally I'm glad it's made it more mainstream because if ~Everyone~ is bringing it out the prices have to go down and I don't have to pay $80 for a $40 pair of thigh high boots!
