On that list, "Take On Me" by A-Ha because it's one of my favorite video's.

That was tough. I had a threesome with Queen, Journey and Beatles. Beatles. So so close.

I had to vote "Take On Me". I love 80s music, always have and that's one of my favorites. But when "Sweet Home Alabama" comes on the radio, I can't help but crank it up.

I said American Pie just because of familiarity.

All really great songs but definitely Bohemian Rhapsody, I have to sing the whole song when it comes on.

Do tell. :D

Anyhoo, BoRhap and Pie are the only real choices

No, I don't know all the PIE words so this would be a no go. Journey was the first cassette tape my sister ever got and we listened to that over and over that whole summer so I know that one really well. Hey Jude...sigh...sheesh so many feelings with that one. BoRhap, it's just so fun to sing, LOUDLY.

Margaritaville ~ Jimmy Buffet
Would have been my choice but...
I had to go with Journey.

Bye, Bye Miss American Pie,
Drove my Chevy to the levy and the levy was dry,
them good old boys are drinking whiskey and rye,
singing this will be the day that I die.

Something close to this is the chorus.

Why don't we get drunk and screw - Jimmy Buffett. Many and many choruses of this tune in my younger wilder days.

When I was a teenager walking home with friends after nights out, it was always bohemian rhapsody...The people living along that road must have dreaded Saturday nights...The drunker we were, the worse we were...

Now sweet home alabama is my favourite, although I don't know all the words like I do for queen and American pie..

Although on a side note, watching my sister try and portray bohemian rhapsody on Christmas day during charades was hilarious...hippy rap sodomy anyone?:D

Sweet Home Alabama for me.
Although if you'd had "Walk This Way" (Run DMC / Aerosmith) that might have been a close call.
And for any Aussie, "Khe Sahn" (Cold Chisel) is the national pub anthem.

I'm voting other for:

John Denver - Country Roads.

Particular reason: When we were into young family holidays we sang this in the car on the long and slow journeys to remote cottages in the Highlands of Scotland, when the "are we nearly there yet?" pleas from young'uns started grating. It was a great mood changer for them as well as for us! We always remembered the chorus of course, but sometimes the verses got into a tangle and so we would make up our own extra ones. Part of the beginning of several really great hols with the kids. Sweet memories!

ps our last family holiday all together [years back!] was a week in Paris. Thinking of that fine city and its beautiful people just now ...

Wow. Lots of choices. Queen does deserve top spot maybe... But I agree with Margaritaville, and Paradise. Must sing when those come on. And Devil went Down to Georgia. Also fun... Hmmm. So I said other.

Love Sweet Home Alabama, but the group is spelled Lynyrd Skynyrd. Named after one of their school teachers.

My Favorite Southern Rock Band!:) So many hits to sing to by them.

Great poll with some great choices!

I voted for Piano Man as it was my senior class song.

I like the post by suckonsimon adding Country Road by John Denver. A couple other good country options would be The Gambler by Kenny Rogers and Fishing In the Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

I've gotta say Piano Man. The timing is in 6/8 so it gives it that waltz-y feel that makes it easy to sing and sway.

This was a tough poll....
But had to vote for American Pie, with Hey Jude being a close second. But the
"the" pop song of my senior year in high school wino out

"all of the above"

I voted for Lynard only because it just makes me laugh inside when that song comes on a a room full of adults suddenly begin playing air guitars and singing (?) the musical introcution.

"neer neer ner neeeer.. neer neer ner neeer.. neer neer ner..
ne neeer ne neeer ne neeer ne neeer ne ne ner"

(and don't act like you didn't just sing along)
