Humans have continued to evolve throughout our existence, developing mentally and physically to become smarter, stronger, and in general, better.

In a world that seems to be progressing at an accelerated rate, extraordinary human bodies and minds are continually pushed to their limits and beyond, breaking world records and defying beliefs about our capabilities. More than ever, modern medicine and technology continue to extend lifespans and conquer medical maladies. With all this, we must ask ourselves: Is there a limit to human potential? Has our improvement stopped or slowed? With scientific and technological advancements, will we eventually be able to surpass our limitations and achieve the impossible? And what will the consequences be if we do?

(I stole this from a magazine article I was reading)

Remember all votes are anonymous. Thanks for playing along.

So where is the vote thing? I think advances made by humans will be incrementally smaller, there still will be advances.

I think that the advances we have made come at a cost to other things, the world, the balance of nature and we will eventually destroy the things we need to sustain us because of our continued thirst for development...we may become the most advanced species on a planet devoid of any other life...

While I admire those who strive for greater understanding, we seem to be advancing because we can rather than asking if we should...

I voted no limit. I fear the next steps are going to be an exceedingly rough ride but in it all we will find a profound expansion to the horizons of our potential and humanity - as well as the extremes of selfishness and cruelty. I feel that we are seeing in our time the 'exposure' of the potential of human minds and hearts for new ways and generous living, and at the same time the degree to which we as a species can be savagely arrogant and base.

In four words: I have to hope.

We're already doing what was thought to be impossible 50 or 100 years ago. In another 100 years people will look back and wonder how we survived under such primitive conditions. Mankind, our knowledge and capabilities will continue to evolve - unless we kill ourselves or our planet first.

So, IHC: folks who are not sure but don't lurk and masturbate - hell, what are they supposed to do?? :D

I watched a documentary the other day that suggested the earth was much older than we thought and that the earth had cycles of enlightenment vs dark ages..with the dark ages 'restarting history'. Supposedly we're on the tail end of a dark ages....unfortunately these cycles are about 4000 years....

do I believe it?....i have no idea. ..
i do think if we're not careful we'll max out our resources and slide backwards if we don't learn to be a bit more harmonious with the earth....

physically, I think there is a limit, though I think we are probably still far from it

but I think mentally/emotionally/intellectually there are likely no limits, since those are much easier ways to 'grow'

Homo sapian sapians will eventually evolve into something else leaving the standard Homo sapian to be left to history.

We won't ever outlive our potential because our potential will change over time as we evolve. But what we are is NOT what our children will be.
