I miss this. The Daddy thing.
Morning wake-ups and evening tuck-ins
Feeling I was special to him, that I was worthy of his time and attention
Pics and vids and voice things by request and even before
Check-ins through the day to see how I'm doing
His attitude of care, concern, protection
The initiative he takes to meet my needs even before I speak them
All the pet names
It was good while it lasted. It was the best.
What she said.![]()
I'll second that![]()
Ditto! When someone seems to care, it's a fabulous feeing.![]()
It is!! And, when those things are missing, it's sad. We talk about self-care, but sometimes it's hard to do when you feel the weight of disappointment.
How are you, Lilliana? <<< not related to my comment!
Just haven't seen you much!

It's very hard to do for us who are both relationally-oriented and pleasers.![]()
Some of the best things about it. *hugs*![]()
I know that I am a pleaser.
Please, Miss Honey, tell us what you mean about relationally-oriented.
Our motivation comes from our relationships... people vs. tasks or things.
Have you taken a temperament quiz thingy? I like Gary Smalley's bc he uses animals to represent the temperaments and that makes it easy to remember. Here's a very condensed summary:
Lion (choleric) - extrovert, goal-oriented
Otter (sanguine) - extrovert, people-oriented
Beaver (melancholy) - introvert, thing-oriented
Golden Retriever (phlegmatic) - introvert, people-oriented
Everyone has some of each, but usually only scores really high on one or two of them. Off the top of my head, I'd say that Farawyn and Des are lions (Can you imagine them in a disagreement?), you and Ricky Champagne are otters, Zach and I are Golden Retrievers, and cookie and Blue are beavers. Those are v-e-r-y general assessments, of course.
Florence Littauer and Tim and Beverly LaHaye have also written about the temperaments, using the Greek names for them.
Hi barefoot,
I just wanted to say hi and see how you are doing? I hope all is well.

I think I'm a golden retriever on this scale. (Makes sense, I quiver with excitement whenever someone says "good girl.")I'm such a silly thing.
Hi bfg! I am doing well. I still pop in and lurk. I just haven't had much to say. I've been working very hard on developing some self-care skills and making them part of my daily routine. (I try not to be too hard on myself on the days that I don't do as well.) I've been trying to keep my "little self" out of sight and out of trouble these days! (Although I did get pretty excited about going to A&W and ordering food the other day because it was the first time in my life I'd ever done that!) The pure delight in the novelty of "fast food" has kept my "little" close to the surface this week!(She's dangerous, so it's best to keep her on a tight leash!)
Well, that was interesting. Yes, I'm a golden retriever and beaver, strangely they are almost evenly matched. I can totally see that!I guess it means that I'm a bit better balanced than I thought!
Here's the link for the test I used

Hi bfg, thanks for sharing the link, I found my results interesting as it came back beaver/lion. Who knew![]()
