"Flipping my skirt in the direction of the shower I head off to the kitchen in a hurry. Setting a large stock pot of salted water to begin boiling, pouring in a generous dollop of olive oil and saying a prayer to the pasta gods that for once the lasagna noodles don't stick together. Filling the food processor with the mix of ricotta, parmesan and fresh herbs and blending until it is well mixed but not perfectly smooth. Setting the baby bella mushroom caps on a baking sheet and brushing them with garlic butter before setting them in the oven to roast briefly. Filling the deep sink with clear cold water and dropping in the romaine, butter and red lettuce heads to begin to wash them."

Finishing my shower I smell the aroma from the kitchen, making my mouth water. Damn good cook my little sweet peach. :rose:

Ceasar salad, tonight??

"If you like Sis! I was just going to wash the greens and tear them up and then set them out with a salad bar assortment for people to fix what they wanted, but Caesar would be easier....."

(Sliding the lasagna pasta into the merrily boiling water and pulling the roast mushroom caps out of the oven. Getting out the big baking pans and spreading a quick layer of meat sauce across the bottom of each before setting in a later of the mushroom caps and topping that with thin slices of fresh mozzarella. Draining the lasagna noodles while they are still firm and rinsing them well with cold water to stop them cooking I begin to layer the pasta in - thanking my lucky stars that for once they aren't sticking together too badly. Dotting the pasta with the ricotta mix and spreading it carefully I make another layer in each pan, just like the previous layer, ending with a final layer of meat sauce and a generous coating of fresh parmesan cheese before sliding the heavy pans into the oven to bake.)

Well ya know when there is a sweet peach in the kitchen something is gonna taste good. ;)

(Giggle snorts tugging your beard)

(Reluctantly leaving Daddy's arms to finish up dinner. Lasagna is baking. Grabbing the long crusty loaves of bread and slicing them up, brushing the slices on both sides with garlic butter - sprinkling half the slices with fresh grated parmesan cheese before sliding them into the other oven to toast. Grabbing the heads of lettuce and making sure they are clean and dry before beginning to chop the greens into a large bowl. Cubing several slices of white, wheat and dark breads and drizzling them with olive oil, fresh crushed garlic and finely grated parmesan, tossing them well and spreading them onto a baking sheet to toast up for croutons.)

(Turning to Daddy) "Daddy, I need your help with this, please. I've never made Caesar dressing from scratch before."

Okay, my sweet peach, lets get down the wooden salad bowl first, I will guide you through the process, it is your dinner after all, I am just a excited, um I mean interested observer.
Now get out a couple fresh eggs, the garlic olive oil, the pepper mill and the cheese grater with parmesan in it. Oh yes, and two fresh lemons and that little bowl of anchovies.

(Wrapping arms around Daddy and pausing for a lingering kiss...)

While peaches is busy ... I am grabbing out the big wooden bowl and rubbing it with fresh garlic, draining the lovely little fishies, shaving the parmesan, gathering the dijon, and the lemon, and grinding pepper ...

(Hugging my sister for helping with the salad - Following Daddy's instructions carefully......)

(Listening carefully and following Daddy's directions - taking the wooden bowl from OK that she has carefully rubbed with the garlic - rolling the lemons on the counter - taking the bowl of drained anchovies and wrinkling my nose.....)

"You are TOO good OK my sister!" (Carefully separating the golden yolks from the whites and saving the whites in a bowl for omelets or meringues. Squeezing the lemons hard enough to wince, making sure I've gotten every ounce of juice from them. Putting egg yolks, dijon, minced fishies, and lemon juice into the food processor I turn it on slowly adding in the garlic oil and reaching to turn off the ovens so bread and croutons don't over toast)

Forgive me my sweet peach, I must wander to the den whilst you process the dressing, I am still to old school and I must whip it, whip it good. But I understand the need for speed at times. *hugging my peach with a kiss*

(Giggling at Daddy and handing him the whisk - wiggling my derriere at him in passing and murmuring) "Whip it good Daddy.....whip it GOOD!" (Shaving the parmesan into the salad over the greens and adding the freshly baked croutons. Putting the toasted garlic bread into separate baskets - one for the cheese bread and one for the regular, covering them with clean linen towels to keep the bread warm. The ovens being off and the lasagna having set it is now possible to cut it into squares - larger and smaller - before carrying the baking pans carefully to the buffet. Hurrying to set out the pitchers of fresh ice water, sweet and unsweet tea. Freshly sliced lemon is available, the table is set. Dressing the salad and tossing it before handing the big wooden bowl to OK with a kiss of thanks. Had planned to make zabaglione in keeping with the Italian theme but we have so many sweets still available from last night there is no need to make more I think. Waste not want not....)

(Woooo Hooo - in between cooking and cleaning and playing Hide n' Seek also managed to finish Chapter 4 of "Of Lords and Ladies" and get it submitted.......now the long, dreaded wait for approval:rolleyes:)
