Cycling is sexy

Did not have real problems installing the Maxxis. The rear one was a bit more difficult, but I am expert in managing such big pairs. ;)
They are fantastic! Plenty of traction, and surprisingly smooth on tarmac. And silent!! The best of both worlds. They make rough surfaces disappear. Incredible. Coupled to my Grizl, they make a fantastic ride, comfortable and ready for almost any challenge. I was doing 40km/h easily on a stretch of road, hands in the drops; Wow! This bad boy is such a fantastic bike; It makes road biking appear rather dull in comparison.
I am in love with this little grey stallion!! Top German quality!

BTW, my steerer tube is still uncut. I may slam the stem to the frame when I am a bit more at ease in the single tracks.

Very cool and happy Friday Iza!!! Yeah, when I went from 45mm to 50mm on my old monstercross bike it was so much more comfortable and not really any slower. On my Breezer I went from 50mm to 2.2" (55.8mm) and will have a hard time going back unless I was doing a more pavement/smooth surface oriented ride/tour. I found mounting the tires really depends on rims. I tried a pair of Velocity Blunt rims and could barely get one side of the tire on. It did not have much of a center trench which I think was the problem. Switched to some WTBs and Velocity Cliffhangers and they pop right on tool free. I'm sure your background with the big pairs helped though ;)😘
 
My DT Swiss are really wide, makes mounting tires easy I think. Very good wheels, and good looking too.
Mounting my Continental GP5000 TR on my Enve 45 (On my Aurum) are a freaking nightmare. I had to bring the rear wheel to a bike shop..!!
Tubeless are a pain in the ass.
 
I've been changing tires on motorcycles and bikes for way longer than I care to admit and never had to use heavy duty tire irons until the last few years. I still use Mavic Open Pro CD rims for CX and road wheels.

I had Mavics on my triathlon bike. Loved those wheels.

I had Mavic Open pro on my first road bike, in the Victorian Era, or just after. ( Edwardian?...) Anyway. I liked them but did not know anything else. Rims and tires were thin then, and over inflated. I don't regret this a single bit. It was pretty bumpy for my boobies ;)

I run up to 33mm on mine for the CX wheels but anything larger have the WTB or Velocity
