It's a substitute to me. Given the option, I'd much rather have the person there with me and I wouldn't consider cybering in any way synonymous with real sex.

Having said that, if a partner of mine was to cyber with someone else, then I would regard it as cheating.

Well, generally when you have a poll you have at least one for, and one against your subject. Both of those are for.

Now, I have nothing against cybersex, it can be fun. But it is by no means sex. Its just foreplay, with words.

I tend to agree on the topic of "cheating" - at least, it diverts energy and sexual interest out of the relationship and to someone else.

That said, cybersex and other forms of the written word occupy a special for me. The cyber I've had was very good, and excuse me if I come off arrogantly but I think it was due to intelligence and imagination (and webcams) on both our parts. Previously cyber-sex had seemed dopey to me cos I thought it was just typing sex stuff and wanking simultaneously, but my experiences from the start produced some very mutually satisfying times. Indeed, dearest. My reference was specifically to a previous poster who pondered whether it constituted "cheating." Having myself been in the long-distance position, I think it a wonderful extension of the relationship when so used.

I also agree with Perdita. As with physical sex, it's all in the partners. Some people are simply amazing at it. Others ... not.
