Hello old friends and new buds-to-be.

I purchased Cyberlink PowerDVD-5 for my son's computer last year. After installation, I put the disk in that elusive place called "SOMEwhere" and can't find it. Of course someone (a buddy of his, perhaps?) password protected it to G rating. I never could get past that. I gave up last week and bought another copy. BUT-----Lo and behold--typing in the product key gets a response that it is invalid. Can one of you fine folks help me?

Thanks.

Well, it sounds like one of two things happened:

1) The key is burned into the windows registry.

2) The key is just plain bad

If it's #1 you could try to uninstall the software from your control panel, then re-install it from scratch. If that doesn't fix it to work with the new key, you may need to contact the powerdvd company for instructions on removing the registration key.

If it's #2, you'll need to contact the powerdvd company.

I used to use that software on my old laptop, but on the new one it's got a dell player, so I'm not sure exactly what's up with yours (unfortunately) since I don't have a copy on hand.

Thanks for the input. I did a serious search of codes and found many sites offering variations on the theme. One did work. It was just a bum code, IMO. I also went ahead and elected to password protect it myself so that no one else can.

PowerDVD is good app to use.

Well, if you lost the password, you may try some of the Warez sites; they give u serials/crack & sometimes full version.

By the way, it's illegal to use serial/crack to unlock your software from demo version to full version.
