My fieance has this person who keeps emailing her, nothing threating, but I want to find out who this person is, and I cant google "him" or find "him" anywhere, how do I get info on this person to get them to stop???

Ok, if they are AOL email addies, it is very simple. You report the names to AOL customer service as sending harrassing emails. They should take care of the rest. Using AOL to harrass anyone is at the very least a violation of AOL's terms of service, and if it violates any laws, AOL is usually pretty good about forwarding the info to the proper authorities. If you still have the emails saved, they may want them.

It may sound overly simple, but would a "Please stop e-mailing me" work or is it truly a stalker?

i'm fairly certain there are several software programs that help you track down what server they're using when they connect to the internet and that can be traced all the way back to their address... assuming they're not using a public computer (like at a library or college campus).

of course, that may be more time/money than your situation merits... if it doesn't feel TOO serious, i'd maybe try what "i'm wild cherry" suggested.

Ditto to the above. If they're non-threatening, why not just block the addresses? If she doesn't respond, the person will likely get bored and stop sending them. You also might want to check into how they could have gotten her address...I've been harassed a little in the past for forgetting I had public yahoo and msn profiles, so make sure to take down that information if it's out there.

tried that, he keeps emailing.

it's not like every day, about once every 3 or 4 months. And like I said, it's nothing threatning, it's usually just a "hi how are you" type of thing(although i think it's more a I'm still around kinda thing). I will let y'all know how it turns out. and thanks

Start posting the contents of his e-mails here. At least we can all have fun making fun of him. Then your fiance can let him know where to find his e-mails posted on the web.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. My honey is rather worried about it. I am not so much worried, but it is just creepy.

Its not that he's ever said anything threatening, or really inappropriate. Its just that out of the blue he (I guess it could be a she) emailed me at work and asked me out. I said I was not available and asked who they were. He/she just kept emailing me things like...hi, how are you, and sent me some email funnies etc. I never really responded but to say that work doesnt like personal emails and to please stop emailing me. He stopped.

Then about 6 months later I get emails again...hi, how are you, and then sends an easter card. Finally I email him/her that since I dont know who they are and they wont reveal who they are to never email me again. Then I get about 3 days worth of emails ..."email you what"? It seems to have stopped completely about a week ago.

It kinda threw me because I never really thought about this person again and out of the blue they emailed me again. I guess it just bugs me and is creepy that they wont say who they are and they definitely know me from work.

Since I've stated in blunt words to never email me again, and it seems to have stopped I'm not doing much but keeping the emails for tracability if needed. I've decided if he/she emails me again I will block them and report them to aol abuse.

I have a blocker with my email server. If some one is bothering me, I can just have them blocked. Call your server, they will take care of it for you. Good luck,
