What's your job outside the bedroom...
"I'm a gentle nanny by day and a dom by night" or "I'm a dominant CEO of this really expensive company by day and Sir's salve by night"

(Yes i realize that a large portion don't "turn off" your BDSM by day but really jsut indulge me with a vague job description... those were examples)

I work in a bakery at a supermarket and am in college.

Actually I am an Executive (Chief Financial Officer) by day, but I 'view' that from a distinctly 'service' oriented POV. It is stressful, but I don't believe it is any more stressful than any other job with responsibilities to perform.

While being submissive does require one to "react and obey', I don't think that Executive positions are all that foreign to the submissive temperament--or at least not to my temperament. I mean I don't feel like I switch gears at all when I come home or get off work. I merely change the focus of my service.

It has to do with how I view my job I am sure, I see it as a service, a service to those I lead and a service to those who trust me to make decisions for their benefit. But, from my POV it is all service.

How I earn $$$

I renovate old house all day. I dominate the lumber, punish those nails by driving them in place, beat things with hammers,, make the paint goes where it doesn't want to, and boss around the help and the subcontractors, making them adhere to my stringent demands for how the final product should look.

Everyone should hire a perfectionist contractor.

I come home to a cat. Tell me who dominates whom in this scenario?

I work in a Service Deli in a grocery store right next to a bakery = )

curioser??

Hmm by day (and night) I work as a home health Aide (CNA) and a shift supervisor for a convenience store. basically, both jobs are an extension of what i am (masochistic submissive switch) They both have elements of service, both have elements of command..both give me a pain in my ass!! I guess I enjoy both of my jobs too much to give them up...but i do get tired of em!!!:p

You have one of the most dominant cats i have ever heard of. ;P

As closely as I can tell, all cats are Dom/mes by nature. I further suspect that all of them would tell you as much if they only could.

Right now, His Lordship is lazing in the middle of the bathroom floor. He is most likely plotting mischief.

Nice post, Cait!

I can empathize with your feelings on this. I am now, back in the front lines of human services, but did a tenure in management and development.

Silly me, didn't realize until recently that even by occupation, my submissive "service oriented" nature seems to play a role in my career choices.

Hmmm of course, I didn't enjoy the responsibility that went with management, but must say, it had other lovely aspects. Perhaps, indicative of the switch in me that was buried at the time.

I am a Technical trainer/writer.

I ride the wild software all day. I have a Boss but he is scared of me (rightfully so).

I sell highly overpriced crap to extremely bored and wealthy people.

Sales: It's the fine art of topping from the bottom, perfected.
