Most places that I know of are 18. If you aren't comfortable going to a store, there are several places online where you can buy them. You might also want to look online to see what's out there before you go shopping.

Well, it's not like your hymen is a thick barrier to your insides. The blood comes out for your period, right? Then there's an opening. Google images for hymen and you'll likely find a huge variation in pictures of what hymens look like. Same thing if you're ever wondering if your breasts/vulva/penis look "normal", you'll be amazed at just how many variations there are (and you can find non-smutty pictures if that's what you're after, but be prepared for some unwanted pictures if you're not looking for porn).

The ob/gyn uses an object called a speculum to hold open the vaginal walls in order to have access to the cervix. You might want to ask your doc to use a pediatric speculum.

The hymen is quite stretchy and should just stretch to accommodate the speculum. There is a risk though that it can break, as with other things like biking/horseriding etc. Occupational hazard.

IMHO if you're planning sex anyway the pap smear will be more comfortable and less freaky if you leave it just till september when you'll probably have been active sexually for a little while.

The chances of abnormailty in the cervix in virgins is very very small which is why your mother though it unnecessary before. It's entirely up to you. As long as you get one in the not too distant future I really wouldn't worry.

In the UK it's done 1yr after you become active or 21, whichever is sooner.

Hey, I havent been on here for a long time now! but thought i would check out whats going on around here.
