I've been curious, what do you as an author think is your worst and best story? Just a few questions I was wondering about

Best as a writer?

Beijing Streakers. It’s well-choreographed, has the biggest orgy, serious tension in the human rights protest and chase scenes leading up to the orgy, every character gets their moment to shine, it was incredibly meaningful to me personally.

No, wait. Fear, Lust, & Vanity is my best reviewed story here and it was my first adventure in the genre. It also had serious tension, a chase scene, and lots of interesting characters with spotlights.

No, wait. A Step Up was short and simple with great content and reviews.

I could say similar things about all my stories. I don’t know which to call the best or worst. Let’s just call them all masterpieces.

And I’m not going to judge anyone’s work but my own in this thread.

Worst? It's a toss up between Test Subjects or Living in a Women's World.
Both are quite popular, but I'm definitely not satisfied with them.

Best? Fucky Friday, probably... (It's been favorited more than any other story I've written)

But I'll always have a soft spot for Eldritch Pact. (That femdom story will never get the love I feel it deserves 💔)

Worst among my stories is probably Counseling if I had to pick. Uncomfortable subject matter, I wrote it more to reconcile angst involving my characters than anything else, and I honestly don’t know if some of the situations I wrote about in it belong in an erotic story. Loose Ends too. It gets low attention and it was a “put the universe on pause” story so the sex was minimal and may be uninteresting to some readers. And yet some people still liked both these. Go figure.

I think MILF Cruise - Upgraded is my best. It's got everything I look for in a story. When I'm not in the mood to write, I read it and before I'm half through, I'm in the mood to write.

And Famine to Feast is my worst. I totally phoned in the ending because I had three stories at the same point and just wanted to fucking get one done. I blew it and the commenters called me on it. Which I deserved.

Great story but rubbish ending - where did she come from. You missed out a whole story

Best... like picking a favourite child. They're all different, all special in their own right... and just like kids, I'm the only one that is likely to think so ;)

Worst... pretty easy. First part of my Captured Queen story has parts that make me cringe. Doesn't seem to suit the rest of the series too well because the characters took the story off in a different direction and I let them.

Not my lowest-scoring piece, but I like the lower scoring ones better than I like that one.

Hard to choose my "best" so I'll start with my worst:

The Doctor Is In...Me Pt.2.

Not because it's badly written per say. But because it's a sequel to a story I never should have written a sequel for.

Part 1 was my first story here ever. And I got an incredible reception. And readers asked for more.

So I got greedy and tried to give it to them. But I had no clue what I really wanted to do with the thing.

And now it just kinda sits there, setting up a story I never finished.

I think if I was to answer this question once a week it would be different answers. My opinions on my work constantly shift. I most likely could pick a worst-based on my feeling about the story because its reception here was decent-but not a best.

As for others work. Beyond the Borderline might be the best story I've read here. I won't pick a worst, I'm not going to shame anyone.

Among my favorites are the work of nikki_2021 and AhMyGoddess. Also Nick Scipio, KMB2476, and Carnage Jackson. Colleen Thomas and others too. Far too many to mention everyone specifically. I’m not judging the worst.

This is difficult. I’ll ignore my one page out and out porn shorts. They are just meant to be fun.

I put the most effort into the Coleoidphilia Trilogy (all 60k words - short by many people’s standards - long by mine). I’m really proud of it, but it’s probably a bit uneven. Also I felt off the leash to make up the most bizarre sex scenes, which may not be to everyone’s taste. Out of the three stories, Caputpedes is my favorite. But perhaps combining equine-human sex and polemic is odd - I am a bit odd.

I poured the most of myself into A Good Woman. But I find it hard to be objective about that story for the same reason.

Mors Immatura is maybe my most mature work. Not least as it has close to none of me or my experiences in it. But - perhaps for the same reason - it feels a bit clinical to me.

Close behind Mors is Jacob’s Progress. I did have an emotional connection to that, not entirely sure why, but I did. I cried writing bits.

Of my early stories, Wanting to be Wanted has a special place for me. But it’s also the first erotic story I ever wrote and the first story of any sort I wrote since college. It shows.

Fragile will always also have a special place for me as it was the first time I realized I could write a story and not just porn. But it is immature stylistically.

I’m going to go with perhaps an odd choice. One that has not been wildly successful or even noticed much. But I loved writing it and adore my two main FMCs. Perhaps I’m overly influenced by being 12k words into a sequel right now. But I think it has most things that I think I write for. It’s Off The Shoulder.

Worst? Hmm… maybe Hood & Hole. A rather mean piece put together quickly. It sits rather poorly with the rest of my work.

I think my best story is one that is yet to be submitted.
It's a semi-autobiographical story about how I met my now deceased friend/ex-girlfriend.
I'm actually looking for a "volunteer editor" to help me with this one.
It's by far the most personal piece that I've done so far.
Putting in down, has really made me appreciate what we had.
I'm blessed that I was who she asked to walk her down the aisle and give her away at her wedding.
Our bond was never broken in this life and I know I'll see her in the next one.

I think my worst story is "My Sneaky Wife Jennifer".
I left it open with an ending in mind for Part 2, but I just cannot fucking get there, in a way that makes sense.

I have a lot of favorite stories from my own work, but I think my two favorites are 'Wife Commerce Act' and 'Birthday Stripper' because it showed some of my most creative side, and I always have fun reading them again.
One of my least favorite that I've written is 'Fuck It, Let's Have Sex'. I still like it, but I felt that the plot too basic and wasn't as strong as the other stories I've written.

I don’t really have a ‘best’ of my stories. I’ve no illusion I’ve ever written a perfect story, I’ve never written a story I didn’t like, because, well, those are sitting in my ‘maybe there’ll be a useful bit I can pull from these’ file.

As to ’worst,’ the ratings are clear. That’d be Melancholia in Pictures. I disagree, but it had too many things against it. It’s a 750 Word Project entry and it was initially mis-categorized. It’s also a bit open-ended. But it says what I wanted it to say.

A few have some definite structural issues. Both Ladonna’s Quandary and Hog in the Ground Day have too much ‘extra’ stuff which detract from the cores of the stories. I knew what I wanted to do with Eucalyptus Moon, just didn’t manage it.

I thought war and peace was pretty good.
Mein Kamf, not so good.
Mein Kamf was dogshit, I agree! But have you seen the stuff the same author posted in the Illustrated category? Very talented painter, I say. Look it up!

(for the love of God, please don't read that joke and think I'm actually pro-Nazi, I beg you)

I am seriously thinking about rewriting my story What Dreams May Come. What stunned me was the low rating on my story and the comments that there was no sex in it. It was posted in the Non-Erotic category and I even put a disclaimer at the beginning that there was no explicit sex but that the reader will eventually discover that the MC is a lesbian. I obviously did something wrong ...

My best one? Well, they’re all good in their own way. I said that earlier. Now I’m going to answer which is best specifically.

I’m just going to go with Beijing Streakers given its crazy plot involving a historical fiction human rights protest at the 2008 Olympics carried out by athletes and legendary Chinese heroes followed by a foot chase and the most inclusive orgy I’ve ever done thus far. It’s got nine votes right now, needs 1 more for an H. A bit long, the orgy does take a while to fully set up, but I’ve never had any complaints about this work.

Still not picking out the worst. I don’t wish to shame myself like that.

I think my horror and mystery tales are my best work, and the by-request cuckolding stories I wrote are the worst. All my others fall somewhere between the extremes. Some of my horror stories are better than others of my horror efforts. But in general, I write horror well. Or I think I do.
