Perhaps I am a Luddite, but my observation has been that the internet has opened doors for some, but has ironically closed doors for those who spend too much time on line fantasizing and not enough time out in the real world meeting and interacting with other people.

You can't - at least I haven't been able to figure it out. All of the men I've been with 'look str8' and there's just no way anyone would think they get turned on by other men. Same with me - just no way to tell.
I tried making it obvious I was checking a man out once and a while, and it just doesn't work.

Bi or gay men will often try to get other men to slow down and interact in different ways. If a guy at the mall starts a conversation with you, go with it. If a guy checks out your body or gives you a pleasant look, say hello to him or start a conversation of your own. These things are more likely to take place at evening social situations, but they can take place anywhere and at any time, like in a store or out on a hike or at a campground.
Married curious guys are a bit of a different situation, usually. They are not as likely to make the first move, but will join in if they see other men enjoying each other's company.
I am a married curious guy. And, ideally, my 'friend' would be the same.
I became bi because an older bi man initiated an encounter with me when I was about 20. After this, I could not say that I was "curious", because I already knew that I liked being sexual with men, as well as with women. So, I don't know what it would be like for two curious married men to start something that is new to both at the same time, but I imagine this does happen quite a bit now that the internet allows people to connect with others who share a fantasy.
Having said that, I have had very little luck finding people who I have chemistry with via the internet. I really have to meet someone before I know if there is a possibility for open conversation and sexual chemistry. My suggestion for married curious men seeking other married curious men is to do various social and work activities with other married men, and see how willing they are to talk about a wide range of topics. This may require doing activities where you can interact with a lot of people before you can find someone who likes you and who also seems to be a seeker.

Re the idea of not much luck with internet contact...your mileage may vary. I've only recently gone beyond curiosity, but I've used it for men (craigslist) and women (match.com), and not being much of a bar person, it's my main m.o. You have to be patient to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak....but this is what introductory meetings are for.
In most any city, the number of M4M ads (in several places...) on craigslist is astounding, way more than hetero ads, which are much more often phishing, and not real. Be brave and post your own ad. State exactly what you want. There's an ass for every seat.
