Cuomo resigns

Bury this guy in the past and use him as an example for every candidate going forward.

Fucker still won't take responsibility for his actions.

Yup. He's the epitome of that mindset. And it's cancer in politics.

But note he went on his own while the various 'Pubs around the country had to be tossed out by their own.

I do see multiple people vying for the "first" pursuit here.

which is dumb

He should have resigned back when he ordered the nursing home mortality data fudged.

Breaking.

Good.
indeed. this kind of behaviour's untenable, especially given the far stricter laws he signed into being regarding sexual harrassment and misconduct. how can he not recognise his own behaviour leaped right over that line?

i'm actually all for a fair trial with all the information, but 11 women calling him out and then his really bad move of attacking them in public? definitely made me view it through a certain lens.

It's been a fatal flaw in way too many male politicians & men in positions of power..

The perv got on his soap box and preached much like many of you.

The media is praising him as if he apologized and maybe shouldn't resign.

You guys fly into a lights at night too?

He "went on his own" the same way that Nixon did. He didn't have a plausible path forward.

Some commentators seem to think that impeachment needs to continue in order to shut off any possibility of a comeback. That's up to New York, but I don't see this as a huge risk. Cuomo does not have supernatural political powers, and more to the point, is not in the party that has a recent track record of excusing sexual misconduct.

*takes Ouzo shot glass out of Turkey Bollocks' teetering hand*

hey, buddy...have a glass of water, go home and rest up. The bar will still be here tomorrow, y'know. ;)

so the impeachment is 'suspended'; reasons given that there's no precedent and the whole aim is to remove cuomo from office but he's resigned.

2 things: no precedent and removal from office applied to trump's presidency as well... i guess it's certainly clear that trump's danger to others was at a far higher level than cuomo's shitty behaviour, but should that prevent impeachment being pursued here? (personally, i think it makes sense but then we really don't know the full extent of cuomo's degrading & possibly criminal behaviour)

& since it is 'suspended', does that mean it could be reinstated and pursued should cuomo try to run for office again in the future? i'm hoping that would be the case, so it is effective in keeping him out of the running whilst saving tax dollars on a very public impeachment.

is he getting off too lightly? i'm thinking there will be civil lawsuits pursued against him by those 11 women calling him out, some of them at least.

The traitor in chief was in office for the House impeachment, but not the Senate trial; which was the fig leaf some Senate republicans hid behind.

Cuomo is gone.

Not the same.

The sexual assault claims of groping, etc, seem to be unverifiable by third parties, but the sexually inappropriate comments and the toxic work environment seem to be verified by third parties. Hence the resignation.

It's highly doubtful that criminal charges could be brought, but the civil suits are probably a foregone conclusion.

At the very least, institutional sexism is being put in the spotlight.

That is a good thing.

thanks :)

what about the whole 'suspended' terminology? does that mean it's open to being pursued in the future should he try for re-election?

It basically means that it's over. Cuomo's resignation rendered the purpose of the impeachment (removal from office) pointless.

It's what the traitor in chief should have done. Actually, the traitor in chief should have never run for office.

*nods*
