I've written many adultery stories in the past, but I have never received the wave of negative reaction that I have to my lastest one, "Fat Tuesday Flirt." Most of the criticism isn't about the writing, but about the very subject itself. A lot of nasty reaction about what "sluts" the women are and angry men that the women are not punished in the end. Few of my stories have consequences for the cheaters in the end because they are FANTASIES, not reality. Should I put a disclaimer at the beginning of the story that woman doesn't get punished just so I don't have to put up with such nasty email? I'm working on a sequel and the wives still aren't punished.

Like I said, I never received such a negative wave before. Has there been a change since I last posted one of these stories? Are they out of vogue? If I wanted to write a "realistic" erotic story I would.

Take it in stride hun. The loving wives Cat has become something of a battle ground, with partisan groups trying to enforce their particular take on what stories in the cat should entail. A disclaimer wouldn't help. the only way to avoid the controversy is to not post in the cat. Since you enjoy writing this kind of fantasy, just keep writing, enjoy the positive feedback and deep six the negative ones.

Oh dear me ... more walking wounded from the "Loving Wives" category.

I'm sorry you've been caught in the crossfire, Jake - although to be honest, I'm more surprised that you've been missed before than that you've been hit now. It's part of the ongoing silliness in which various people attempt to "enforce" their opinions of what the category should be about by troll-bombing and leaving nasty comments for anyone who doesn't meet their criteria. I'm sure that it has nothing to do with the quality of your stories or ideas; we've just got a few determined nutcases who exhibit the more remarkable staying power.

Sorry they got you, though; hang in there, and when you've recovered, I recommend the humorous approach. Make your next story their worst nightmare - and make the troll him/herself the most foolish and unsympathetic character in it. Perhaps you might even have the wife take to cheating due to her frustration with a husband who does nothing but sit on the Internet all night writing bile-filled comments on stories he can't admit turn him on. ;)

It takes a thick skin to write to LW nowadays Jake. And, it takes an even thicker skin to know to let the nasty comments fly a thousand foot over your head.

See it that way.....if you're getting such strong reactions you must be doing something right. :p

It's aggravating. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the loving wives category. I'm also not a big fan of the interracial category because I don't like the way most of the authors interpret the genre. But rather than critize them or voting badly on their stories, I just don't read those two genres. I've had people attack group sex stories because they didn't like the types of groups. People are irrational.

Who said they wanted realism? Let's face it, in reality, people seldom face the repercussions of thier actions. That's why I'm so fond of fiction. Things actually tend to be more rational, simply because someone's pulling the strings.

As for the Loving Wives category... Don't expect kindness, or sense, or rationality, or...

Well, I'll abridge that: Expect idiots to respond rudely.

?

Can someone fill me in on the factions and their positions within 'loving wives'. I always understood they were not simply adultery stories, but, in that case, husband sanctioned or directed.
