chuckle It never occurred to me that I'd need to watch my fingernails as well as my toenails.

Yah, shoes are expensive! And I have size 13 feet so even men's shoes aren't exactly easy to find

Whoah! I'm a bit more fortunate...Most of my men's shoes & boots are 10's, in women's I wear an 11. one of my women's 11's are too small, either...a couple even kinda loose. The old "rule" about 1.5 sizes different isn't exactly always so....

Yeah, I'm prepared to have to return pairs if I buy online. That is assuming I don't end up falling down the stairs the first time I wear them and ending up in the hospital.

The trick is to try not to put much (hardly any) weight on the heel while you walk. As though you were walking on something tender that the heel would puncture....you won't be so tipsy; or sound like a clydesdale!

Thats actually how I imagined having to learn. Sure, graceful I won't be, but sooner or later...
Then again, I'm not expecting to walk much in them in the first place.

yes, and to make sure they fit properly. a really narrow heel at first can be hard, so maybe try a wider heel until you are comfortable. after a while , it can almost be second nature and oh so sexy !!
