Cross your fingers, say a prayer, light a candle.....

As some of you know, I was laid off in mid-November from a very cool company that I'd only been working at a very short time. I was out of work for a couple of months, then found a temp positon - making half of what I made before. The stress has been incredible....I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy....

In the past week, I've had three new job possibilities come my way. Two have fizzled. I find out about the third tomorrow. I'm trying not to freak the hell out right now........

Good luck, man. Work can be such a phenomenal pain in the ass to get.

Thanks, AA. And yep, it is.....especially when the bill collectors are knocking your door down. Makes it hard not to sound abso-fucking-lutely desperate....

Good luck, Nigel.

If your into all that prayer and candle stuff, try the symbolisation.

Find an object which represents your desire for permanent work. Consciously, be aware that this object symbolises a real desire which is inside you and the take care of that object.

Then, even if you don't get the job tomorrow, you still have your desire intact - it doesn't go off and get lost or damaged with a rejection slip. And, I bet you'll soon be in a job when you take care of your desire in this way.

Cool idea! I've been doing the Creative Visualization thing.....will try yours. This has worked for you, I'm guessing?

Sending you positive vibes,
thoughts and good wishes. :)

Best wishes Nigel, I was out of work for 3 months in '97 and we were nearly homeless by the time I found a job, been there, know the frustration your going through and how it can affect a persons state of mind. Hope the third one pan's out for you!

Good Luck Nigel

I have everything possible crossed for you.
Pretty damn uncomfortable too I might add so let us know as soon as you hear ok?

Yes, it's a development the French go in for - using objects to externalise symbolically what we are experiencing internally. I find it is more powerful than mental visualisation and takes gesthalt chairs a bit further. There is evidence in the neuro-linguistic field - I don't have the links on this PC, I'm sorry - that the process helps the left and right hand sides of the brain to communicate. In practise, it helps many people, and that's what I find important.

Good luck Nigel!
green is the money color. oh and luck. luck right? I'm not too sure on that one.

The best of good wishes, positive thoughts and support are headed your way. Chin up my friend and when you need some chill time you know the music to take you away.

Update...thank yous...and a correction...

First, the correction:

xxdebbiexx posted "Sending you positive vibes, thoughts and good wishes. ", and I responded, saying something like:

Vibes? I don't need vibes, I need a job! Vibes, dildos and other toys may be sent to:

Foundation For The Frigid
PO Box 6969
Hackensack, New Jersey 10019
:)

Thank you, debbie, for your support and good wishes.

However, the post did not appear. Or the appearance did not post. Oh, hell...it's not there! LOL

Second, thank you, oh brattiest of cats.... Your positive outlook is inspiring.... :)

Thirdly, the update:

The decision will not be made until Tuesday. So...this weekend will be fun...not to mention Monday....

I cannot thank all of you enough for your support. It proves to me that even when things seem dark...almost darkest.....good things - as well as good people - can happen.

My love to you all...and a wish for a safe, fun and happy weekend to you and yours.

Nigel

Thank you, redrose....It's not fun..but at least it's better than putting you through an interview...then at the end, saying "Well...we're REALLY looking for someone with [insert random number] of years experience in [insert name of field]"...or "You were making 45K? Well, we pay minimum wage plus a [insert percentage] commission. I've gotten both of those in the past few weeks. Grrrr.......

Thanks for rootin'. In the meantime, do you know of a woman who wouldn't mind kissing me till my lips get numb? ;)
