I hate the patent leather ones they have at the fancy bondage boutique. Totally namby pamby. I want a REAL riding crop. SImon Legree style stuff.

Equestrian catalogues or maybe Kaufman's or Miller's still exist down on the LES.

Yeah, you gotta go where the horse people go.

My 30" English crop is probably my favorite toy. More for inspections and pussy spankings than anything else. A bdsm toy might be cheaper, but hell, a good crop will last forever.

You are only as good as your equipment. Never settle for less than the best. It's a giggle to see the mainstreaming of BDSM. It's suddenly very hip.

Definately the saddlery store for buying our crops.....much more economical than the adult stores. And of course, when you get a shop assistant like I did when I ordered the making of our bull and stock whips it is even more interesting....nice country girl whose daddy had raised her to know everything about horses and horse things, telling me with a grin on her face and her hand caressing the length of the whip just how much it can hurt if you wrap it around yourself in your first few efforts at aiming and getting your target just where you want. :)

I've seen and felt patent-leather crops that are much more hardass than regular ordinary leather crops. The one I'm thinking of was very well made with the handle part going up into the crop part and making it nice and firm. Not soft flippy floppy ending on it. As for me, personally, the more flippy-floppy, the better because the less it hurts. :D Right!

I actually think you need one of those crops with the giant red leather heart or the big pink hand on the end--it'll give most submissives a big laugh, unless they've never been hit before, in which case it might scare them. ;)

You might want to try a carriage whip, Rosco. Sold wherever good horsie stuff is sold. As you probably know, it is not a standard whip: it looks like a very long crop with a tiny tip, and a little string on the end. They are nice for a number of reasons. One is length: at 3-4 feet you can reach a submissive from halfway across the room. (Of course, this can be a disadvantage if you want to use the implement while they're up close and personal.) The other nice thing about carriage whips is that they hurt a lot more than even the best-made crop does. I am not a physics major but I think that the combination of the very narrow tip (plus that little string part--can't forget that!) and the speed at which you can swing this thing due to its narrowness and length are what make it so formidible. It always had me screaming at top volume after just a few strokes. After ten or 20 I'd be in a serious begging mode. Also, a long carriage whip looks far classier in the hands of a top-hat- and black-cape-wearing pencil-thin-moustached villian than a crop does.

TaintedB - most hurt crops with small end from rubber  Use with care :) :p

Well, I'm still alive to talk about them, so I think he did. ;) It just feels kind of funny when I sit down in a chair and that hollowed out place where my ass used to be kind of folds under me. :/

I lived with one Mistress who used a crop. I hated it, or rather feared it more than anything.

When I first came to live with her, in the beginning she gave me over-the-knee spankings from her bare hand. She said, "I'm going to start with just 20. Each time I spank you, I'll add 10 till we hit 50. Once you've gotten used to my hand, I'm going to start using a paddle. We'll start with 10, then go to twenty."

She had a dozen different paddles, the worst of them with studs. As she felt that I was getting used to her punishment, she kept upping the anty... or rather increasing the severity of the equipment she was using.

After the paddles came the riding crop. She would give me just 5 strokes. Possibly for something really severe, 10. But i don't think she ever gave more than 10.

To me, nothing was more blistering than the crop. All she had to do was threaten it, and I was on my best behavior.

Hitch me up to the plow and we will plant one. Your choice wheat, corn, or soybeans.

I Love crops...Though the good ones I had were lost long ago in a breakup (long story)..
I have since found that a slightly less expensive model was quite nice...And it lent itself much mor readily to modification to my exact requirements...
Also it was much less susceptable to ......moisture.

Got one off of amazon.com around x-mas for my girlfriend. Less than 20 bucks, got qaulity, felt right in your hand. Should get me another one......

5 bucks...
8 bucks

i have both of those (the seocn done i have in pink. They are good and sturdy... The kincade one, i've seen versions of those at s&m clubs being sold for like 20 blucks plus... I got mine at pet co for the same price that's on that site.

Yikes, that's hot. ;)

I love them. Funny, I rode hunter-jumpers from childhood into my early adulthood. I should have saved them

Who knew, LOL.

We own both crops and bats. Bats are the shorter and heavier of the two, with the wider head. They also don't have the looped "handle." Bats are my favorite. I like the heaviness and the brutality of them. On the other hand, a good crop can practically be a cane. Hell, I don't know if I have a favorite, LOL! We actually found ours at a little nowhere's-ville tack shop in JMs hometown. Decent quality for a rockbottom price. I love a bargain.

One of these days we'll have to invest in one of those carriage whips. Sounds tasty :D
