Criticism !!!

I was trying to be helpful. Stories here get few (relative to views) comments and votes. They never have gotten much reaction and they never will. I have found that even when the readers favorite the story, they vote less than half the time and almost never comment. There is no pressure on readers to respond to stories here in any way, and it's natural that those reading smut won't. Even in the mainstream they don't. I find that even the authors who say they crave comment don't give it themselves.

So, your best bet is just to appreciate what you do get and not hyperventilate over what's not going to change--especially not just complain about it on the forum. If you want more in-depth analysis of your story, you can specifically ask for it on the Story Feedback board. Then you'll get a little bit. Some say you'll get more on the story if you ask for it in a note on the story. But you are never likely to get as much as you want at Literotica--this is a "slip in, read, and back out, not leaving a trace you've been here" sex reading site; not a "if you read here you have to give feedback to the author" site.

So, it's a matter of how dissatisfied you want to continue to be about something that isn't going to change.

And good luck interacting with NORITRASH constructively.

Ok, glad we don't have a rift here and I appreciate your input. These replies seem to confirm what you indicated. If there are some that want to correspond we can do it with pm's as I have already done.

Criticism of stories isn't the sole focus of the site, so it's just a natural thing that there's very little of it. Readers are more like simple consumers when they visit Lit. They are mainly here to read or scratch an itch. For entertainment value, if you will. It isn't a requirement to vote or comment on stories, though it is an option should they wish to do so.

I don't think it's something that should be discouraged, just not expected. It's nice when you get feedback on stories, most especially when they let you know why the liked/disliked parts of your work. But often feedback is usually a simple "great story" or "you suck hope you get aids and die".

As far as actual critiques, that might be better sought out by simply requesting it, either specifically to someone or through an outlet such as the Story Feedback section of the boards here. If that were the sort of thing a person were looking for. There won't be much in the way of that from the readership though.

I don't care for the word critique anyway. This insinuates that you're receiving input from some authority on the matter. It can come off as "you're doing it wrong" in a way. Better by far to simply phrase things as opinions about any given body of work. At least, that's my opinion. Opinions are a "take it or leave it" sort of thing. Art is subjective, so while there may be good or bad ways of writing (technical stuff, as in grammar and punctuation and such), there's really not a right or wrong way for an individual to tell their story. That's for the author and the readership in general to decide, not for one individual critic.

But as it stands, Lit is a reading site. Most everything else is an optional perk.
