That area got hit by some killer storms last night, and I'm worried!

Let us know you're okay, please?

Thanks for the concern. We are okay. We got very lucky. The tornado that did so much damage in our county (death count officially right now is 11) passed about half a mile in front of our house. We left before it hit and went the other direction, but we could see it and it was HUGE. Trying to get back home after it was over was a nightmare. Out of the 4 ways back to our house from town, ALL four were blocked. We finally got home about 2am.

The area looks like a war zone. Trees are everywhere. Clothing and debris are scattered everywhere: in fields, draped over trees, etc. Houses a few miles from ours are destroyed. People we know are dead. It's just awful.

We don't have electricity or phone right now (just cell) and won't for at least two days. I'm posting from the McDonalds in town. I probably won't be able to post again until we get power and cable back on.

Thanks again for the concern everyone. :rose:

So glad you and yours are allright! Thanks for letting us know. :rose:

If you need anything let me know. You're within driving distance, and i can get there fairly easily.

Two days ago I was in East St. Louis.... I looked on the weather channel at the truck stop and thought the storm looked nasty... last night I was in WVA....I sometimes wonder about the driving... especially with the storms

Crim, I am super glad that you are okay. If you need anything and I am heading back that way (don't know yet because I am getting unloaded right now at Ball Metal in Williamsburg VA) let me know

Glad to hear from you Crim. Sorry about the losses around you, let us know if you need anything. :rose:

*Big sigh of relief*

Been on edge all day (since I heard the news reports and immediately thought, "I hope Crim is okay.")

 Hope you're back soon and all is restored to order. :rose:

Hey guys. Thanks for all your concern. In case you haven't read in the other couple of threads I've posted in tonight, our cable is back on.

We got electricity back late Monday, but our cable (and net and phone) didn't get back on until about 5 this evening. At least now I can watch the weather and see if the storms forecasted for tonight and tomorrow are going to be as nasty as the one Sunday night.

Here's a couple of pictures of the actual tornado that users had uploaded to a local news station. The first picture was taken shortly after the birth of the tornado as it was heading into a town in Missouri. This town is only about 15 minutes across the state line from the main town of our county. The tornado crossed over into TN and kept growing. Most reports put it at about a half mile wide during its destruction (wide enough to take out four houses at one time).

The second picture was taken after it had plowed through two of the areas of our county and before it hit the third. This was caught by someone who was standing on their front porch. As you can tell, in the second picture it looks larger (especially around the top) and looks more like a dense cloud from sky to ground than a tornado.

Those pics are terrifying. I can't even imagine how it must feel seeing that coming towards you.

I'm just so very relieved you and yours are ok, but send my sincere condolences to all those around you who have been affected by this.

 :rose:

Glad to hear you're okay. If you need anything, just say so. I'm not far away.

More storms heading into our areas tonight. Ahhh, the joys of living in this region in the spring......

Hasn't always been this way though. It's only been in the last 9-10 years that it's gotten so bad.

I'm fine Neon

The storms all went south and north of us, so we got missed. Others weren't so lucky. I know there were deaths reported in Nashville, not sure about anywhere else.
