Creating A Link Using Images

I want to add an image to my sig line that is also a link. I've seen pictures here that link to something when clicked on. I'm just not sure how to go about doing it. I will be using an image from the web. I'm wondering if it is in any way similar to including an image in a post. That, I know how to do. I'd appreciate some instructiion on this. Thanks.

1) Insert the image, using the

button and pasting the URL of the image location in the box that pops up, like you normally would. (VERY detailed instructions for this (inserting hotlinked images) are located in the FAQs sticky on the main How To page.)

2) Go copy the URL you want to link to. (In the example below, I just used http://www.google.com.)

3) Highlight ALL of the code that appears. (From the [ of the first image tag to the ] of the last)

4) Click the

button and paste/insert the URL you want to link to in the box (make sure you only have one 'http://' at the beginning before proceeding - sometimes it's screwy by not having that part highlighted when you paste, so you end up with two). Click OK.

5) Preview your sig/post to make sure the image appears and the link works (open it in a new window or tab).

Example of a random flower linked to google and the code associated with it (ignore the asterisks):

Formatting your signature is exactly like formatting a post.

You may find some old posts that talk about using HTML coding in signatures and vB codes in the body of posts, but the forums have been reconfigured for about three years now to accept only vB code for formatting and ignore HTML codes.

Thank you both. You probably don't remember, but the two of you along with Colton White, taught me how to insert links in the first place. I set up my submissions page link, with your tutelage. I know...I really need to take a computer course.
