Has anyone ever thought about organizing a Literotica Poets Retreat?

If you are interested in something like this I can offer beautiful Nova Scotia as a perfect venue.

There are some amazing minds here and the thought of everyone getting together and spending a weekend poeting kind of gets my mojo going.

Please respond here on the Board what you think of such an idea. If you are interested then ALSO email me at Sweetwood@hotmail.com with a simple yes.

I will then post the number of yes responses back here.

Even though I am a virtual virgin here, I dare to suggest this.

I would be willing to organize the venue and make all of the physical arrangements here in Nova Scotia.

This could be good

Interesting idea, Sweetwood, but right now, I can't afford it, in either time of money.

I'm a long way away from Nova Scotia, but I'm even further away from having out-of-town commitment time. Currently, all of my travels plans take me to later winter of next year! (Yikes, I should have paid more attention to that happening.)

Best of luck making it happen.

judo is right.

taking the time and the money to go off on a retreat, wonderful as it sounds, simply is pragmatic for most of us.

esp if you're a part time student, part time starving artist

Dear Sweetwood,
I think that Nova Scotia is one of those Canadian places that are known better to Australians and Portuguese than to folks from the USA. We have a geography problem down here as you probably know.
I think that your province is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

That would be so much fun! I wish I had a way to go. But no money and two very young children spells No Way. :(

Well, now that you mention it... ;)

As a matter of fact I have friends there and I know some Lit people from NS that have poetry submitted too (not regulars on this board though), but there's a big ocean in the middle and I have a feeling I'm going to need to stay here in Portugal this summer...

What JUDO said, and more of it.

While writers' retreats (of all kinds) are a wonderful idea, and could generate great work, it's just not practical for me due to money and time constraints. I hope it works out for at least a few of us, though. I'd love to see the poems and stories generated by such a gathering.

Enthusiasm amok

Being at an age where it is easier to indulge my enthusiasm I forgot that not everyone is this fortunate.

I did not intend to hold this event next weekend though.

Having organized conferences North America wide in the past I realize that an event of this nature takes a long time to organize.

So think 2004, in the middle of summer, blue skies, oceanbreeze, dramatic landscapes and really, really nice people, eh?

Check out smithpeters links (thank you) and his poem about Nova Scotia (see New Poems List), it will make your collective mouths water.

Thanks for the responses. And - Nova Scotia is a great place for kids.

If that's you and Sweetwife in your Av, I have to say you are a beautiful couple.

Didn't I hear that wonderful people in a small Nova town took in a thousand or so displaced air travelers in the aftermath of 9/11? Those passengers felt that Nova Scotians were the nicest people on Earth. I've never been to Nova, but I've liked almost every Canadian I ever met.

I once met Bob Probert, who at the time was one of the most feared enforcers in hockey, and he was incredibly nice. I wish, kind of, that I had asked for an autograph. It just seems weird that someone who made his hay crushing people was such a great Joe. Somehow, that story says something about Canada to me.

With Artful's permission,

nice suggestion but as with Wicked Eve i too have children
and any i mean ANY $$$ i get will be saved to go to Arkansas to meet my Master someday=my dream mmmm thanks anyways tho S.w. nice pic too:rose:

Nova Scotia, Us, and friendliness

Yes KD, that is a picture of Sweetwife and I.

Nova Scotians opened their homes to 67,000 stranded travellers in the aftermath of the heinous and deliberate murder of human beings on 9/11. I hope we comforted them.

Canadians (and we both are immigrants to Canada) are open to the people of this world and love to be among them.

Even if we cannot organize this retreat we welcome anyone who happens to be here (this is a fabulous vacation destination) to come and visit and chat over coffee.
