Hi guys!
I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that I've been away and will continue to be away from the board for awhile. But Lauren and Cordelia are still here to mod (though it's probably not needed much).
My four year-old and I were in an auto accident a week ago. So I'll be busy healing, going to physical therapy, and taking care of my little one. Fortunately, my 6 year-old wasn't with us. I was driving home on the highway and a woman pulled out from a side road and just basically stopped in the middle of the road. I had about 2 seconds from the time I saw her until the time we hit her at 55 mph. My mercury (which I've written poems about and which is now totaled) was an old car without airbags. So my chest got up close and personal with the steering wheel.
Take care and I hope to be around more later.
Impact
She is still and steal, gray lady down,
with crushing gaze that invites our press
over solid lines of tragic gown.
We move along her midday dress,
rolling red to meet our lady,
with crushing gaze that invites our press.
Within my shadow, whispers Sadie --
gentle follower there in my dark,
rolling red to meet our lady.
Poised on her hem, broken and stark,
she idles, unaware of another --
gentle follower there in my dark.
Gathered and crumpled, in folds we smother.
Off the shoulder of bruised exposure,
she idles, unaware of another.
Skirts are heavy for us to endure.
She is still and steal, gray lady down.
Off the shoulder of bruised exposure,
over solid lines of tragic gown.
