You need to be very, very careful with who you meet, but I have had a couple of playmates I met via Craigslist. The times I ignored my gut feeling about the ad, though, I wound up with someone unpleasant. The people who were willing to accept my desires to meet somewhere public to feel each other out, on the other hand, were great fun to play with.

craigslist is full of bots, prostitutes, and guys
I have only once got a legitimate response on craigslist and it quickly became apparent they were not intelligent enough to read and understand a posting. I know females (usually seeking females) have much better luck as do guys seeking guys. The problem is numbers. Much like Lit, there are about 478936754^27 guys looking for every female that is looking. If a woman wants random sex, she can pick a guy up in the produce section at her local grocery. Guys on the other hand, since they are always trying so damn hard, have made it impossible to approach a female without her having a 100 ft high wall up.
My suggestion? AFF and the like, fetlife is pretty good, but has a lot of the same problems as lit and CL. There are other sites I am sure, but you will have to find them.

CL used to work ... but a long time ago. I second what is said above - Craigslist is full of bots, whores and dudes.

CL isn't where you'll meet casual hook ups or the like, for that use a singles or players sight. If your in an open relationship and both go out together a lot opportunities will present themselves.

craigslist sucks a bag of dicks.
I've posted ads in the w4m section...get responses back from horny gay guys. even though I anticipated this and said in my ad that I wasn't interested in guys. big fat waste of time.
although one of them claimed to own a porn business and offered to pay me money to do shots. and I was like..uhm, yeah, no. lol

Craigslist is sometimes good for looking for other than body's to connect with, but those personals are more spammers and bots then live people. And if it's a woman your looking for, check under the hood before play starts, they have a lot of extra parts in there!!
I have met some great people on CL. Not one bad experience, but I live in a very rural area so maybe less chance of creeps or fakes. I am into FWB due to being married and that has been respected thus far. Probably is easier to find good guys, than decent women I suppose that aren't looking for compensation. Good luck anyhow.

maybe i've underestimated how pervasive craigslist is, but I always thought those "missed connections" were odd. like, what are the chances someone who may or may not have noticed you yesterday would also be the same person that checked the post on craigslist the next day?

There is a website for people with "missed connections" in airports and on airplanes. Name escapes me at the moment but they claim to have success stories.

As someone has already posted CL is defintely NOT a safe option anymore. Plentyoffish.com is the new CL for that. I met a few winners off of Plenty of Fish.
Honestly if your looking for a hookup try your local night scene, hell I have picked up more women at the local grocery store than the night club for some reason, not sure why.
This site isnt bad for it either, I have met a few from this site as well and enjoyed myself. Bear in mind to that if its free, you get what you pay for. If your looking for an easy 1 night score something like adult friend finder is good. If you are looking for a relationship then none of these are good, you need to do it the old fashion way and let chance bring someone into your life, through work, church, daily activities etc.

The grocery store is very useful, only recently I got my hands on a nice pair of melons there.
