Fooled aroundt with the lathe, and made a brass sling button.

I am fully aware, that the holes in the leather should be shaped like

-----0

Not like

0-----0

But that is because that plaid has "other uses" than just a cape for the evil overlord-look.

...it is bloody difficult to photograph something shiny!

I make some parts for the household, but production of doorhandles and the like is, well, "production", and making 12 of the same thing, would not be fun.

But jewellery, spare keys, custom parts of musical instruments, pervy toys, bits of research equipment and the odd broken, expensive or out of stock spare part, that is fun!

Trust me when I say, that Lady C would not see anything adorable about 12 different door handles.

I made an extra.

If the connection is semi-permanent the "stem" should be just a tad longer than two thicknesses of the leather. If it is supposed to be taken apart often, make the stem a little bit less than three thicknesses long and make the top more rounded.

Proof of life for Gianbattista.

Ugh, that didn't work.....

First yarn is a 3-ply of different colorways that the dyer based on the movie Frozen. Not a big Dizney fan, but the colors were fun...a vivid purple-pink, a muted aqua, and a soft green with purple splotches. As soon as I saw the colors, I knew they needed to be put together. Ultimately, this yarn will become socks.

Yarn 2.5 is a pure pink wool (one of my favorite breeds, Corriedale) plus a second yarn with an added strand of pink/metallic crochet yarn. This is for DD2 and will become a shrug.

Now I'm working on part 2 of three of a pure silk yarn. It's slow going because the fiber is very thin and so is the yarn, but it's going to be excellent! I blend of crimson, gold, and olive green.

Those yarns are beautiful. I haven't been in this thread for awhile. :looks around: so much great stuff. I found some lovely wool yarn that was so pretty and felt so amazing I was almost willing to purchase it despite the large price tag. :sigh: I settled for something less luxurious and made a scarf for myself. The weather has cooled off but it's not cold enough for this yet. I want to wear it right away, here's some pictures.

I miss these things so easily.

f^_^; I like chevron, but sparingly. In this case, I didn't want alternating colors, I just wanted the 'texture.'

Yes, chevron can get pretty busy on the eyeballs if not used sparingly. Used just as texture works quite nicely!

It really makes me wish I could make something with my hands. Anything at all.

I have a neverending crochet project underway though. I've been doing it for at least 4 years and I'm still only about half way through. It's just regular squares, but I suck at even that. I only recently realized, that if I use yarn that's different thickness, it's gonna be too hard for me to make even squares.

Maybe I should start with something a bit less ambitious.

You need an instant gratification project. When I have a project that feels never ending, I make something small and easy to get the accomplishment feel goods. A project like this works up quick and gives me a boost to finish the big project.

Those are cute and I have tried them before. The thing is, doing a rectangle ist juuuust about doable for me. Barely. I've found circles, let alone anything more complicated than that to be way out of my league. In no small part because I never understand the instructions. My mom has taught me some basic crocheting moves, but I have no idea what they are called.

I'm not big on crafs at all, so I've never felt the burning need to learn more. I just have this vision of a blanket that's made of squares and it'll be like the periodic table. I'll square out the edges in the end, but the middle part will be like the periodic table.

Maybe I'll finish it one day. I'll just need to get new yarn that's as thick as the one I've used before.

It is a good project in that I can make the squares whenever and they're indivicually easy to finish. The project just doesn't hold my interest very long at a time.
