You do realize that outside of Florida and a few other places most public schools have been closed for a year, right? That’s why many politicians and wealthy people have their kids in private schools. They're also the ones panicking, though they will never admit it. Level headed people recognize that this is a serious battle, and they aren't declaring "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" when the enemy is still a serious threat and is developing new weapons like B117.

In war terms, one year is not an especially long time for a conflict to last, but the "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" crowd thinks it's interminable, and is willing to risk long term success against Covid for the short term benefits of "opening up".

Many think the same thing about the fight against climate change, and the fight FOR social and economic justice.

I'm guessing in World War II they would have stopped fighting and declared victory the minute the allies landed at Normandy.

Assurances cannot be made until legitimate studies are done.
