True or false?

Heaven forbid something deadly comes around. You got to see what a little mild stress does to the cogs in the machine.

TP takes up a lot of storage space. :)

It is a good thing this one is only practice because the US has failed miserably...I blame Trump for that...

If we ever get a bird flu with the virulence of COVID and ability to transmit via air borne at a distance of 6' or so... it'll kill millions.

My point being you would be shitting kittens if it had been the real deal, personal attacks aside. :)

*chuckles* no personal attack on my part. I have no fear of death, we all got to die sometime...:).

I was just pointing out you are in the US, while I am in Canada.:D

The risk is much higher in the US...I blame Trump...*chuckles*

In Canada, lol. :)

.

With the death toll still climbing, countless survivors with damaged lungs, hearts, kidneys, livers, etc, and Covid still spreading with cold and flu season fast approaching, I think the U.S.is going to get a lot more "practice" from Covid 19 before we can start evaluating ways to mitigate the damage and disruption of the "next" pandemic.

The main thing we have already learned, is never elect an idiot like Trump again.

That becomes more and more clear with every new revelation about his lying and criminal activity.

I actually agree

This has, hopefully, been a wake-up call to the dangers scientists have been warning about for years.
The next one could be something as deadly as ebola, but as easily transmitted as the common cold. It could, like pandemics of the past, wipe out sizable proportions of the global population.
I think we've failed the test run.

There IS another "mass extinction" coming. What/where/when/how are unknowns but the odds are that there WILL BE another one to go along with the 5 we've already had.

The Sars family of viruses are currently in the forefront for it but that may change at any time.

Plus asteroids.

There is no "plan" that will cover it. Anyone who thinks there is, is fooling themselves.

Or as Trump would say........

No one knew something like this could happen.

As far as failing the test, that presupposes that the test is over.

There was a reason Fauci and others were pushing masks and shutdowns to reduce the number of cases to a level that could be traced before the flu season started. The real test starts when the confluence of Covid and the flu occurs.

I AM cautiously optimistic that enough at risk people will continue to follow safety guidelines until a proven vaccine or therapeutic is available, thus reducing the odds that hospitals will be overwhelmed.

Flattening the curve was THE goal for everyone who knew Trump was full of shit, and unfortunately it still is, thanks to irresponsible people who continue to minimize the clear and present danger that still exists.

Unfortunately, I think there is going to be an unnecessarily high number of "thoughts and prayers" being conveyed to families and loved ones over the next six months, and very possibly much longer.

SAD!!!

No, i think you can safely say we failed the test before it finished. Ill prepared, slow to react, mixed messages undermining public confidence, etc.

Seems like the only people who hit the ground running were the white coats who work on tests and vaccines.

And the co. I work for. Seemless transition to remote workforces. Making money hand over fist. Yay 12 hour days.

Yeah, I guess all that's left is to determine whether it was a fail, a major fail, or an epic fail

That's why I hold out hope that some mitigation can still be accomplished.

If the healthcare system doesn't get overwhelmed before widespread vaccinations bolster herd immunity and effective therapeutics reduce the mortality rate and number of survivors with permanent damage to their internal organs, I would consider it just a basic fail.

SAD!!!

I agree as well, a big Fan.

Imagine if this was a more virulent virus with a mortality rate of just 5%? I think we all would be toast!

Good news is we know our leadership sucks...it's easy to lead when things are working and when things fall apart it becomes clear who actually can lead and who cannot.

I am very disappointed in the way the USA is handling this relatively easy pandemic.

Not just by the leaders but in the way Americans are handling themselves.

Masks have been worn around the world for decades, for example. WTF???

The larger issue is America's role in the world now that everyone knows you can't count on Americans to pull together when things get rough.

Why? Only 5% of infected die....that leaves the vast majority of people still standing.

Life would go on.

Yes, (D) governors and mayors are clearly not in control of their shit.

Why? We did exactly as anyone who has the slightest clue what the USA is and who it's people are would know this was going to happen and why.

Same as it ever was.

We're just not going to be holding everyone else's hand anymore so it's time for the rest of the world to grow the fuck up.
