Favorite "domestic" fish is haddock, baked in the oven with milk, onions and a ton of pepper. My other favorite is smelt rolled in flour and practically burnt. Nice and crispy mmmmmm

Mmmmm steak...now you're making me hungry! If I'm in a restaurant, medium rare. At home, throw it on the barbecue and grill it big time. Has to be served with mushrooms and onions either way.

Mmmmmmm....exaaaactly....Medium rare, cooked jussssst right, the juices slowwwwly dripping out of the meat........the onions and the mushrooms letting their juices flavour the meat, slowwwwwly permeating through the air, to your nose.......

I didn't know you got smelt in Nova Scotia. Can you get seafod cheap there like you can in New England?

I didn't know you got smelt in Nova Scotia. Can you get seafod cheap there like you can in New England?

The smelt here are best in the winter when they tend to have a bit more weight on them. Most of the time I get mine from some people who ice fish. They get so many they end up giving bags of them away! Not that I'm complaining

Seafood is generally cheap here although the lobster prices can be rather high. The catches have really diminished over the years and it looks like they may have to close a season if they want the stocks to pick up again.
