some bar maid in a quiet bar in the south of france.

she couldnt spk a word of english and kept fluttering her eyelashes at the boys all evening. IRESISTABLE!!!! so had to take a snap. its amazing the people you remember from a photo.

we all tried to get to know her but the language barrier got in the way.

we tried to write a love poem in french for her. but we gave our atempt anyway and had a whole bar in stitches.

Wiz, the problem with the French is that they are all taught English at school and, consequently, cannot communicate with any native English speaker.
A further difficulty is that they have a completely different sense of proportion, as you will know. When it comes to beer, a half is a quarter.
Add to this, their belief that a French kiss is a peck on either cheek, for everyone in the group, grannies included - two pecks on either cheek in some regions, and a French letter is an illegible font, and you have the impasse you found yourself in when nookie was not forthcoming.

So you were wise Wiz. Sticking out your tongue seemed your best chance.
