Could you say no to this face?

Socks.

One of the outside cats we feed needs a home. He's a loving, lovely cat. Can we deliver him to anyone?

Okay, since we're on the topic, we've also been feeding our next door neighbor's puppy. They're awful people and don't take care of their children, much less their pets, so once we realized what kind of pup they had we decided to befriend her.

She's a pit bull mix but the sweetest mutt you'll ever see. We give her a chew treat every day because we wanted to make certain she was our friend. She waits patiently at the fence until we arrive. We used to worry what the neighbors thought but now we don't care.

Now she's been getting out of her fence and roaming the neighborhood but my husband has actually been able to get her back into her yard - she trusts us. Anyway, she needs a good home, too. The neighbors won't notice if she's gone, I have a feeling.

So - can we ship Good Dog your way, too? :rose:

What you can't see is the furious tail wagging and the squirming and yips and noises she makes as she awaits the human with the treat.

But often she'll drop the bone to be petted for awhile before grabbing it and running circles around the yard.

Anyone need a new friend?

Awwwww....I SO would...

Except I've pushed it too far with not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 pity cats...Any more animals, and I'll be the one having to look for a new home.

Oh, sarahhh, not fair! If there wasn't a handful of states between us, I'd SO take Socks off your hands. But then I'd be out of money & couldn't feed him .... after the divorce attorney got paid. *dramatic sigh*

Hubby says our 3 indoor cats & outside dog are all he's willing to feed, besides me.

Damn it. :D

I wish I could. The cat's adorable. The dog too, but I'm not the sort of person to look after a dog.

But I can't. Sometimes I have trouble looking after myself, you know?

Morning Sarah.

Adorable critters, I hope you find homes for them.

I think it is completely cool that you accept the pit bull for what she is: A good and loving dog. So many people judge the breed, and not the individual dog.

YOU RAWCK!! But I'm sure you already knew that;)

Awwww, how sweet! I love animals but I am terribly allergic to cats and the outside ones don't last long with the German Shepherd next door.

My pups won't allow another dog in the family either, but I think you are wonderful for trying to find them loving homes. :rose:

Stella will take the cat! :D Or rather, she would if she lived anywhere near you. Cat-lovers doesn't begin to describe her household :cattail:

Come to that, I'd say "yes" to Socks, but my kitty says, "NO! Kill! Die Socks!" :catroar: [she's a little territorial]

Oh So not fair....

I rescue cats on a regular basis....

And I would adopt them all if I could...

I have two that need to be homified themselves...... they are being fed and they do have little boxes for shelters.... A true Ginger Girl and a Tuxedo Tortie.....

I have three that are all semi-feral cat rescues.... They have tamed down beautifully! Lady Bella, Lord Oma and Duke Samson N. Goliath (he's Ginormous!!!)

But any more and my afianced might throw my happy butt out LOL!

Good Luck and Huge Cudos to you!

At this time, I'm feeding... ummm... *counts on finger* ten (10) cats in my backyard, and another pair down the street-- we run their food down to them to keep them out of our yard. Twelve cats is more than my tribe can handle.

Oh, and a possum.

No, Socks, you're happier where you are, sorry. If I can't find a home for the down-the-street torties soon, I'll have to bring them to the shelter, which is a delayed-kill if not quite a no-kill. And several of my tribe would love to be solo lapcats! So I'm looking for takers myself...

I can't take the dog because I already have a very territorial pit bull, but I just thought I would add some personal observations to your sales pitch. Pit bulls, unless they have been trained (abused is a better term) as attack dogs are uniformly sweet and love people, especially children. Other dogs and animals, not so much.

They are chow hounds, but they love being with people so much that I don't think one needs to have a treat in hand to make them your friend. Many people are afraid of them because they are so strong and have powerful jaws, but a well-socialized pit bull would never attack a human. This makes them wonderful guard dogs against animal attacks (just a few months ago a farmer in the prairies was saved from a bear attack by his pit bull companion) but almost useless as a guard dog against attacks by humans. If a burglar comes into your house I suspect that there is a better than even chance that the pit bull will offer to help carry the swag.

There are many other wonderful (and some not so wonderful) aspects to having a pit bull companion, but the bottom line for me is that the unconditional love that you receive from your pit bull makes it all worthwhile.

Apart from the obvious shipping issue ;) my five cats would not approve of either Socks or Good Dog. My one small (ex-foundling) terrier would also have his nose out of joint.

And I can quite clearly see the wag and squirm in that last pic. Hope you find someone to love him as much as he has love to give.

Ummmm....what do you feed that cat?

Other cats?

Thats one fat cat. My kitty is fixin to be 14 years old weighs 7 lbs when she is soaking wet and constipated.

But she's a very small kitty. And today she is not feeling well. Thought I was gonna lose her a few months ago....and I know her time is limited.

I think after she passes....I won't have another pet fo awhile....too much heartache.

Two things I forgot to say before:

My pit is a rescue dog, and even though I don't know her early background she has always been a loving, rambunctious gentle pet. In most shelters here pit bulls will meet an untimely end before they are adopted because of the bad press that they have gotten - many people are scared off by the dangerous dog stories. Sadly, in areas like mine pit bulls (or any dog that looks like a pit bull) are classified as dangerous dogs and have to wear a special red tag.

Secondly, for Sarah and for others who would like to find a good home for a pit bull or would like to adopt one there are many pit bull rescue sites. The first one I found by googling "pit bull rescue" is the Pit Bull Rescue Central located at http://www.pbrc.net/

I'm glad the dog and cat issue is getting resolved. They both look to be lovely animals. But it looks like I'm far away from you, plus I'm not good at managing dogs, and I've got three cats inside and two porch cats.

I'd take the puppy if there was any way to get her here. I've owned several pits in the past, as well as a pit/shepherd cross and a pit/rottweiler cross (my son used to ride him like a horse). They're absolutely wonderful dogs.

Icon: thanks for that web site. We're in the process of buying a much larger house with a MUCH larger yard. I'll have to see if I can get a rescue pup. :)

Wish I could have that pup, but she prob couldn't be shipped out of country.
She sure is a pretty thing though.
Good Luck with your search.:rose:
