Could you change your online persona?

I couldn't do it as a replacement for my current persona... but possibly in addition to...

Nope

I've tried to do that in the past. Mainly just as a joke, but someone always figured it out.

I can't keep my damn story straight. I either tell the truth or don't say anything at all.

All...

...my multiple personas eventually converge back into myself...i can't help it

...so I gave it up.

in say a "chat for the idiots" (see Yahoo) I have done it many many times for whatever reasons. Confusing the ones I have changed ID's in front of there is like taking candy from a baby. Hell, use a diff color and put a _ in your name and you can take down about 15% of them.
Here it would seem to be much harder do to a more analytical nature, and a higher intelligence level.

I did not care what my "friends" thought, for I usually just keep one or two close ones online anyways. One has been with me for three yrs now, through about 10 name and email changes, bitching at me all the way cause I keep making her change my info. :p So could I, here not so sure, but then again, I have not gotten any stalkers yet..something that happend to many fucking times in Yahoo

Could you change your online persona, and become someone else? Could you be a completely different person, ignoring all your old "friends" and making new ones as if you were someone new?

How would you feel? What would your friends think? Could you do that?

I can never ignore my friends, they are too precious to me. So I guess my answer is no, I can't change my persona even online. I like being the friendly and open person that I am. :)

are you following me? paranoia setting in, hyperventilating into brown paper bag...wait your a 'Bama fan...n/m

Nope, it would be too much work and not enough fun. I do enjoy slipping into the Duckman and Confed Pig role from time to time to poke fun at people, but those posts are almost entirely quotes from Duckman episodes and not very original on my part. I let them die because I was running out of quotes and there are no new Duckman episodes being created. :(

Nope, it's just not something I would do.

Don't know why I'd want to do that, anyhow.

It wouldn't be honest.

No, i'm the same person whether i'm posting here at lit under this id or at yahoo under another id. I'm the same person and anyone who happened to read posts at both places would immediately know it was me.

I have used more than one id in yahoo before, it started as a joke, but within 5 min one of the more astute members there knew it was me. The "joke" became one of great friendships.

I don't understand the need to change identities at the drop of a hat. In fact, i don't trust those who do so and won't spend much, if any, of my time trying to understand or get to know them.

Nope. I've been PCG many places on the net over the years, and each place, it's been me. If I've felt the need to move on, I've moved to a new location, but I've kept my name and my 'persona' intact. If someone from MSN or Yahoo or another board found me here, they'd know it was me.
