i think the only thing not really an option is making love in a canoe,there could be other things, hubby away and a cottage invasion or a traveling salesman,the parents away and the teens are trusted,so many options, if theres a tentacle monster could be the cottage might be haunted too by spirits

Variation: Home is a city far away, and when son's university year ends he gets dropped off with a fridge full of food and a long list of chores.
