Copyrighted Pictures

Finally, I found the picture I want for my profile, but it's copyrighted. So, if a picture is copyrighted, but I get the permission of the artist to use it, would I be able to resize it for use as my AV.

Any thoughts, what are the rules on this?

I think if they give you permission to use it in such a fashion it wouldn't be an issue. Make sure you tell them you are going to be resizing it when you ask for permission, that way they know you are not going to be using it in it's original form.

Yeah, I told them that I would be resized to the 150x150 specification rule, they were cool about it (thank goodness).
