We studied this. We changed foods. We added veggies, we took away veggies, we added meat, we took away meat, we took away grain, we gave her rice, we let her eat grass, we picked up the clippings, we changed treats, we gave her marrow bones, we gave her rawhide, toys, jerky, brushings, nail clippings, and we bought scoopers and buckets.

I think she just likes eating it. And rolling in it. And hunting for more of it to eat and roll in.

I love my adopted dog, but this one won't be getting any kisses.

how old was she when you adopted her?

aversion therapy. you'd feel mean.

I simply pick it up as soon as I get her away from it. She'll go back and look for it later, but if I'm with her she'll now listen when I say, "no".

It doesn't hurt her to do it, but fucking yuck.

I don't use aversion on any dog. I use praise and ignore.

I took her on Monday for a walk in the park where I've I got to use a pick-up-baggie and drop it in the can. When we got to the can, she stopped, planted her legs and spent about 5 minutes attempting to find out how she could get in to that great meal she could smell.

she is 8 and we're her third home.
well i've no idea if this relates to your pooch at all, but maybe she's never grown out of (mentally) that thing puppies do in order to maintain the same/similar pack bio-digestive thingummybobs - increases their ability to maximise benefits from foodstuffs and, i think, helps them detect their pack's particular scent markings.

could be she just loves to eat poop and it's not some anxiety thing driving the behaviour. some dogs will eat their poop rather than be chastised for fouling indoors. if her body language suggests she's really happy about it all, then she's just a filthy bitch :D

the whole rolling in it stuff? my sister's mutt loved rolling in the remains of any dead animal she could find. go figure.

sounds she just finds it a waste of good food!

which sounds like a labrador.

Just means I'll have to check for worms more often.

Did you ever attempt to move a Corgi once they've planted legs in the "not moving" stance? the only way is to pick her up and walk.

we took in a corgi, once, called Jack - a pembroke. what a character, an independent little fucker who wanted to rule the roost as well as our other dogs at the time. but so funny. we were really more a stop-gap home for him so he wasn't put down by owners that no longer wanted him, and eventually got him a place on a farm to keep his brain occupied.

and yeah, solid as a rock when they're planted. and heavy!

yeah, that's her. "No" means: I did not hear you. "Are you Hungry" means: put the food in my bowl now.

Smart little fucker too. Gave her some asparagus from our older patch and she decided that pieces weren't enough - figured out that the plant tastes just like the little pieces and now runs to the bed and bites off the sprigs before we can get to them.

But she still eats that poop - probably just to annoy me.

I don't mind swapping spit with the dogs - perhaps a bit leery with the hounds because they're kenneled and I don't want to share worms, which are always a concern despite worming several times a year, but overall I've had several hundred dogs lick my face without getting any diseases.

I just don't want to have poop smeared onto my face by a dog's tongue.

I used some aversion training with mine.

Basically, filling a soda can with a few pennies and shaking it when he did something praise and ignoring wouldn't fix. Worked great.

As for your issue, that sucks. Good luck and hope your dog outgrows that behavior.

Female dogs eat poop after they've had puppies. Where do you suppose pups go to the bathroom? Mom's mouth. My male dog likes cat shit.

I installed a screen mesh door with magnets, and my dogs go outside to poop/pee as needed. My son trained his dogs to ring a bell when they gotta go.

Feed her pineapple. It won't stop her from eating what's left by other dogs, but it may make dislike her own.
