His Fanfare for the Common Man is great.

America should be proud.

Interesting comment--have you recently heard Copland's music for the first time?

Try listening to his 'Lincoln Portrait.' Great music, with an amazing selection for the spoken accompaniment.

I had a music teacher who swore Copeland was Lord. Kind of rubbed off on me...that particular song is probably my favorite.

Hey Gusteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee How you doing?

Happy tonight? Sad? Singing? I hope so:kiss: :rose:

I have always been partial to Appalachian Spring. What he did with a simple Shaker Hymm...but he was wonderful, Lincoln Portrait and Fanfare for the Common Man are all favorites of mine. He makes my heart soar...:)

Copland - yes, wonderful stuff!

Many other composers have borrowed from his style - those open fifths - to simulate "Americana". Makes you feel like you're visiting Gramma's house and doing chores and being patriotic all at the same time.

*Sigh* Good music!
