Cop Mugged Outside Police Station, Gun Stolen

WTF???

So it's knife vs. gun and the knife wins.
Cop vs. thief and thief wins?
Totally messed up.

They have to guard their police station?

Reminds me of a case I read for criminal law. A guy parked his trailer home across the street from the police station, where he traded drugs for sex. He got caught.

Inside of 20 feet, with the gun holstered, the knife wins. Still messed up, though. Right outside the station, too... Geez.

if they're within 30 ft., unless you're a super-fucking-fast quickdraw, i wouldn't suggest drawing the gun. someone can be on a person before they have time to draw their gun from that far away.

one could take a cop from behind with a knife and take their gun. a suprise attack.

maybe the cop really doesn't like the idea of shooting someone, possibly taking their life, and won't do so unless extreme measures are called for.

plenty of things could explain how it happened. besides, cops ain't Superman or whatnot. they're just ordinary people like you and me quite often. they too can make mistakes.

Where was Jackie Chan when they needed him?

Y'know, both of you went well over one word, exceeding the limit by 100-200%. I'd settle it by having a quickdraw contest, but I don't really know how to draw a gun or a knife. In fact, I can't really draw anything. My stick figures come out with the lines all jiggly, and I have no eye for color or depth.

Dont get your knickers in a twist, I know about 20 NYPD officers and have heard many stories where they were scared shitless... I am just having a little fun with this. Split second decisions are the most difficult for officers, God forbid he makes the wrong decision could mean his or innocent peoples lives

"omg please dont stab me it will hurt like a bitch if i let you, just take my gun and make it quick, the safety is off" wtf was he thinking i bet that was it.

Meanwhile, back at the Lazy A,..more information that disturbs the ranchhands...
SEC. 2. FINDINGS.
The Congress finds the following:
(1) Police cannot protect, and are not legally liable for failing to protect, individual citizens, as evidenced by the following:

(A) The courts have consistently ruled that the police do not have an obligation to protect individuals, only the public in general. For example, in Warren v. District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. App. 1981), the court stated: " Courts have without exception concluded that when a municipality or other governmental entity undertakes to furnish police services, it assumes a duty only to the public at large and not to individual members of the community. . . ."

(B) Former Florida Attorney General Jim Smith told Florida legislators that police responded to only 200,000 of 700,000 calls for help to Dade County authorities.

(C) The United States Department of Justice found that, in 1989, there were 168,881 crimes of violence for which police had not responded within 1 hour.

:D If it wasn't so funny, I'd puke! So much for the social contract of citizen allowing the government to protect them!

Scylis,

Most likey just relaxed, off guard. The one place where you don't think about the unthinkable.

For instance, I won't use a public restroom unless I can lock the door. Why? I know a master of Okinawan Karate that was robbed in a Mickey D's at the urinal. Like he said, "What are you going to do?"
